It is said here in LA that if Elton Brand does not get the max contract that he would leave as a free agent and go off to another team. Throughout last season Elton Brand was promised by the owner Donald Sterling and the management that they would sign him to a contract extenstion worth 6 years 92 million, but he did not get that. Elton then made a statement that he would consider going to another team because he did not get what he was promised. A report the other day from the Daily News Press said that he would consider going to another team for the mid-level exception but would not list the candidates. The source to me was sort of inaccurate. What do you guys think of our chances with Elton Brand this year?

That's interesting. Where is your source? MLE for Elton Brand? A no-brainer!

    Isn't he a restricted free-agent?

How exactly does the mid-level exception work? Is it something like if he leaves the Clippers a year before his contract is up, he can only sign with another team for the mid-level exception? Otherwise, I don't see Brand not getting offered more than the mid level exception this off season. San Antonio has money and they should be looking for a forward, Dallas and the Lakers will deifnitely be scanning the market for a forward. If the big 3 power forwards on the free agent market are Jermaine O'Neal, Elton Brand, and P.J. Brown, I've got to believe each of those players are going to be signing elsewhere for a hell of a lot more than the mid level exception. A player like Brand is deifnitely what the Rockets need though.

He is a restricted free agent. If he's foolish enough to sign for the MLE, the clipps will match and he'll remain a clipp.

The only chance he has is if some team with a lot of cap room signs him to a max 7 year deal and Sterling decides that's too much $$$ to match it.

This team's chances at Brand: slim and none, and we're all out of slim.

That would be so funny! I could see ESPN making fun of that situation.

When I thought Rudy was going to stay, I thought we should go after him somehow.

But now that we're getting a new coach, we won't be making as many roster changes, because the new coach wants to feel out the new team.

    That's perfect.

Brand will play for one more year and NOT sign an extension unless it's worth the MAX (which they won't offer), and then when he's an FA, we go after him in a sign and trade, offering them Griffin and Mobley or something similar. He could also sign with us for whatever cap space we have, especially if we let Rice's contract expire anda re able to deal one of our big contracts before then.

He will remain in Los Angeles! With the Lakers!

Man.....that would be a great team.

    Kobe, Brand, and Shaq.

Too bad he's a restricted agent. Hopefully he's not too dumb......signs with a team for MLE....and then Clippers just take him............

He should stay with the Clippers for one more year...unless they get Larry Brown. SOMEBODY PLEASE SIGN HIM FOR THE MAX! Don't let him be with Larry Brown.

He's a good player. Short. Good shotblocker. Good rebounder. Nice guy. Co-Rookie of the Year with Steve Francis. We should get him..
