    Hey Guys

What do you guys think about this? The article says that we were one of the several teams inquiring about this. Elton Brand is waaaay washed up but for the #2 pick we can get a star in Evan Turner. What would you offer for this trade?

"Trading The #2 Pick: The #2 overall pick from Philadelphia is available. Sources close to the situation say the ideal scenario is that the #2 pick and Elton Brand are packaged to bring in roster depth.

Brand is owed $15.9 million next season, $17.05 million in 2011-12 and $18.16 million in 2012-13.

That's a hefty price tag to move up, and while there are several teams with interest - Minnesota, Houston and Portland are believed to have called.

Philadelphia may have to come off that asking price to find a deal, unless the $15.9 million in returning salaries are equally overpriced players. "

Ugh... that is a LOT of money for a severely washed up player. I'd love Evan Turner as much as the next fan, but unless we could reach a buyout agreement with Brand (99.9% impossible), I'd have to say no.

2nd pick + Elton Brand for Jerad Jeffery + Shane Battier + 14th pick sounds okay if Les Alexander is willing dig deep into his own pocket next few years.

It's still highly doubtful Rockets is willing to swallow Brand's bad contract.

    That contract is TERRIBLE.

If I was Les, I wouldn't touch a contract like that unless it came with a player like LeBron or Wade.....not an unproven draft pick.

    No way in hell.

you get screwed twice. They get Martin, Battier and you have to take on Brands contract beyond the end of the world.

Oh boy, here we go again!! I would much rather have the G. State deal. Now if they were able to pull off trades for the #6 and the #2 + Randolph and Brand that would be awesome!! Lets see, Ariza, Taylor and 2012 Ny pick for Randolph and #6. Jeffries, Anderson, Hill and #14 for Brand and #2. Oh the possibilities

salaries wouldn't match unless you plan on them taking Andersen of Hill

Too much risk. What if the pick is a bust?

    Its a salary dump.

Rockets wouldnt be sending any value back in this scenario. If it were a real scenario it likely be JJ + Andersen, possibly Hayes if thats not enough to put them over.

Yep. For me to do this it would have to be a young but PROVEN player and not a high draft pick (even the #2 pick). If the pick is a bust you have basically screwed yourself for the next three years for nothing.

I agree, but itd probably be more like

Jeffries, battier, hill and 2011 pick for 2 and brand

bud, 14 pick and 2012 pick for 6 and randolph

    brooks/lowry
    martin/taylor
    ariza/turner
    scola/monroe,cousins/randolph
    yao/brand/ monroe,cousins

I don't see why not. Brand is still a good player. That is a BONUS to me!! If he doesn't affect our salary...why not?

The "problem" from the Rockets' standpoint is that they don't have any albatross contracts of their own to swap for Brand's. Jared Jeffries's $6.88M expiring contract is basically as bad as it gets for the Rockets.

One more reason to be thankful that Daryl Morey is managing this franchise.
