Disgruntled employees at Elon Musk’s space exploration company, SpaceX drafted an open letter to top executives at the company demanding that “SpaceX must swiftly and explicitly separate itself from Elon’s personal brand.”

What happened: An open letter drafted by SpaceX employees and shared via their internal Microsoft Teams chat attempts to denounce the richest man in the world, lamenting his behavior with words like "distracting" and "embarrassment."

“In light of recent allegations against our CEO and his public disparagement of the situation, we would like to deliver feedback on how these events affect our company’s reputation, and through it, our mission.” the letter begins.

Employees at the company are being encouraged to sign the letter, which will be hand-delivered to Gwynne Shotwell, the president of SpaceX.

It is pertinent to note that on Monday, Musk filed a Form D with the SEC showing he had raised $1.7 billion in equity funding for SpaceX across 74 investors.

    speaking of SpaceX . . .

we do a lot of traveling and camping in areas with no cell service and/or internet. So we bit the bullet this week for Starlink RV which should allow us to have internet in those places. fingers crossed, hope it works well

Oh my goodness. Elon Musk publicly told the woke leftist snowflakes that infest the Twitter payroll that "All lives matter". Obviously, anyone who is not insane or irretrievably depraved knows and agrees with that.

Twitter Employees Freak Out At Elon Musk Saying "All Lives Matter"

The billionaire addressed Twitter employees to fill them in on his plans for the company and Project Veritas obtained a recording of the remote session.

During the conference call, the Tesla founder reiterated his position as a “free speech absolutist,” adding that people should be able to say “pretty outrageous things” on Twitter so long as they were legal.

However, Twitter employees appeared to be even more triggered by Musk uttering the words “all lives matter.”

“He literally just said all lives mattered,” one complained, according to a screenshot from a leaked Twitter Slack channel.

    “Yikes,” commented another.

I am looking forward to Musk cleaning house and making a Twitter a more objective platform. Anyone that denies the platform is controlled by far Left loonies is ignorant.

It's about the principle of free speech right?

Or I could just say "free speech versus private property rights".

it's about Twitter being a private company, and private companies can do anything they want. Or so I've been told

If you agree to become an employee of an organization, you agree to subordinate your rights to unlimited freedom to the job requirements of the position and to a loyalty to the organization and the supervisors that you have agreed to work for in exchange for money and other benefits. That includes your free speech rights as it impacts the affairs of the company.

You are of course free to re-prioritize the absolute exercise of your rights to freedom of speech anytime you like - by ending your employment.

And you are free to exercise you rights to freedom of speech anytime you like by getting off a privately owned platform.

    Huh?

If they are claiming his behavior is an embarrassment that hurts the company, it's not insubordination. Just because he is at the top of the corporate ladder, that doesn't make him immune from criticism from other employees that his behavior and actions are damaging to the company.

Musk firing someone because they expressed discontent with how he is conducting himself as a representative and employee of their company is absolutely inconsistent with his supposed commitments to free spech.

    (a) it is unclear that Musk did the firing
    (b) since it's a personnel matter within the company, the grounds for termination for each employee fired is unknown, as personnel matters generally stay private
    (c) the reason(s) given in the CEO's email to the rest of the company's employees were stated this way (as reported in the NYT):

“The letter, solicitations and general process made employees feel uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views,” Ms. Shotwell wrote. “We have too much critical work to accomplish and no need for this kind of overreaching activism.”

    ***
In her email to staff, Ms. Shotwell wrote, “Blanketing thousands of people across the company with repeated unsolicited emails and asking them to sign letters and fill out unsponsored surveys during the work day is not acceptable.”

“Please stay focused on the SpaceX mission, and use your time to do your best work,” she continued. “This is how we will get to Mars.”

my comment of "insubordination" was made in response to someone else's claim about "free speech." nothing more, nothing less

SpaceX, the private rocket company, on Thursday fired employees who helped write and distribute an open letter criticizing the behavior of chief executive Elon Musk, said three employees with knowledge of the situation.

Some SpaceX employees began circulating the letter, which denounced Mr. Musk’s activity on Twitter, on Wednesday. The letter called the billionaire’s public behavior and tweeting “a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment” and asked the company to rein him in. Mr. Musk is currently closing a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter.
