good find, whenever i see this guys name, the first thing that comes to mind is that summer league announcer couple years ago who announced his name like he's having constipation....lol. anyway, the question is, can he fit in our rotation, plus we have Brad Newly as well who is also quite solid.
Nice. I didn't realize he was playing on the same team as Carlos Arroyo.... He's averaging 13.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists. That's not bad. Let's compare to a few notable former NBA players in that league... Josh Childress:10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, .8 assists Carlos Arroyo(on his team):15 points, 4 rebounds, 4.8 assists Juan Carlos Navarro:13.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 4 assists Not too bad Mr. Eliyahu, not too bad.
From what I remember he had an ugly jumper. If he has learned to shoot, he would make a great fit at the PF position.
If he keeps playing MVP level basketball, I could see the Rockets needing him next year and beyond. But, when those guys develop overseas, then it turns out well here for the home team.
V-span is one of the best players over there and look what he accomplished for us. i don't see much difference unless he starts to win championships and gets MVP's like Scola did. the level of skill is far better in the league because we've basically stripped europe of all of their established players. dirk gasol calderon parker etc... Eliyahu won't make our roster IMO, he'll stay over there... unless he warrants being here and getting PT over some of the guys we have already.
I see nothing but good coming out of this. !. We bring him over at the end of euro league season 2. We trade his rights for other areas of need like backup center or point guard.
Yeah, a player should always be judged by their rookie year. V-Span got us Scola, but if you watched the Olympics you could see that the Rockets could use a guy who attacks the basket like that. He would be in the rotation for the Rockets if not starting over Rafer if he stayed. But, he wussed out.....so we will never officially know. DD
All aggressive players turn it over...so what? He was a ROOKIE.....people that judge him based upon his rookie year, are just not thinking it through. The key is to maximize the efficiency....every good attacking player has turned it over a lot.....but all the FTs they get, the open looks for their teamates, and the finishing at the rim negates a good amount of turnovers. I hope he comes back and Morey goes after him....but I know I am in the minority. DD
how do you think the possibility for VSPAN to stay in this team if Adelman were the coach in his rookie year ?
Hypothetically. I think that Landry would be our starting PF and V-Span would be the starting PG. If Adelman was the coach his rookie year, and Scola would be in Cleveland. DD
