I'm looking for another external hard-drive, but I need it to be portable. I currently have a Seagate Push-Button 500gb external, but when I go back home to LA, it is a hassle during the security check because its so bulky. Also, I noticed a few of them (like the Western Digital My Passport) have a version for Mac and one for PC. Do most of them work with either? I would want one that ones with both Mac and PC. My current Seagate works with both and the only difference is that when I connect it to my Mac, it shows me some hidden files (i.e. Recovered files, etc) that don't show up on my PC. I don't use it to backup or anything, I just use it for keep my music collection and pictures from Rockets games I have attended on it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Well the Mac ones come formatted in Journal and the PC ones come in NTFS...all you have to do is buy the PC one and format it to FAT32 and it will run on both. The only problem with MAC and FAT32 is that you can't tansfer a SINGLE file that is larger than 4GB (which is most likely what you have with your Seagate one right now....you can drag several files onto a mac that are way over 4GB, but it just can't be one single file) I hope that helps.
Oh and btw this is the one that I have: http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Passport-Portable-WDBAAC5000ACH-NESN/dp/B002JSQ97Y I formatted it to FAT32 so it would run on both my Mac and PC..also I believe if you use your XBOX as a media player you have to have it formatted in FAT32 in order for it to read your files. P.S. The easiest way to format it is by using a MAC, just because it is a lot faster than trying to format it into FAT32 with a PC. (I think my MAC did it in like 2minutes)
