We need a shot blocker to help Yao out in the paint next year and Udoh averaged 3.7 BPG last year at Baylor. He can score as well as rebound which always helps and he has good size at 6-10. He just declared for the NBA Draft so the question is, should Morey go after him in the draft? Draft Prospect Card: http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft.../tracker/player?draftyear=2010&playerId=19448
That be my choice, hopefully his stock doesn't go to high though. It would be excellent piece to groom or an attractive asset to A LOT of teams in a major deal.
I would love to have Udoh on this team. Baylor stand up! If he aint available, I would go after Monroe or that Euro kid Vesely or Donatus.
I think Udoh is and will be the target. I also think he is very gettable for where we're picking. Upside: Not only does dude have length and athleticism, but he's mobile and has a great handle for his size and position. Downside: He's built like Luc Ridnour and got owned by Duke's lowly bigs in the elite eight. Really like him a lot.
Even though Udoh is one of the top bigs of the draft, hes also one of the oldest, I can see his stock dropping because of that, this draft has a ton of bigs which also helps our cause. Lottery picks = rebuilding teams, you draft by potential, Late picks are picked to be role players or stashed away because of how raw they are. I am a Udoh supporter btw
Folks, this is Morey we're talking about. He's going to draft the best player available, as he should. In the NBA, drafting on need is crazy. If a big man is the best player available, he'll draft a big man, but he won't pass up a better rookie just to fill a need.
No he doesn't. Morey only picks those guys because talented underclassmen are all gone by the time we normally pick. Morey likes young guys with upside plenty well(see Rubio). They just don't last long enough to us.
I would love have Whiteside. He fits so well with Yao. He would be what the Rockets envisioned Eddie Griffin to be: A long, athletic big man who can help Yao recover if he blows a defensive move, providing much needed weak-side defense to a team that has seemingly given up more layups this year than they have the past three years
Besides the 2011 1st round pick, what else would the Rockets have to do in order to trade for the Wolves 16th pick so that they would have 14 and 16? In your opinion.
Udoh is one of the few players in this draft that can help the rockets right away next season. At #14 the rockets won't have a shot at picking him. My two targets (right now) are Udoh and Cole Aldrich, but in the end I see Morey taking best available instead of team need.
Whiteside has serious character problems. I do not want him on the Rockets... let the Jazzholes have him. Udoh would be a solid pick. He's in my top 3 (not including players who have no chance to fall to us).
Being a Baylor graduate and Baylor fan, I would love to see Udoh in a Rockets uniform. One thing you do not have to question with Udoh is his work ethic. He is mature, smart, and will work hard at becoming a better player. He does need to work more on his back to the basket game, but he is able to take defenders off the dribble facing up on the block because of his quickness. He also needs to develop a little more strength. He definitely projects more as a 4 than a 5 in the NBA, and I think he will be a very solid pro for quite a few years.
LOL  I'll take 18pts, 10 boards, 6 assists, 5 blocks and 1 turnover against Dukes frontline all day. The guy that got owned in that game was the Baylor coach Drew having his team stand back in a zone the entire game.
