Either start Lin, or bring in a new starting PG, Bev ain't cuttin' it.

Because Bev played 40 minutes against those guards who often split the minutes (20is each) and Bev was guarding them basically the whole game DUH.

But even if you split up the guards all of them played well and had a high FG% against the "incredible Bev"

Lin made 19-37 threes in the first half (9 games) and 5-27 in the second half (9 games). Is it "anti Lin" to say this?

Someone gave me a rep with the following message - "When Lin gets traded, you will leave with him, and Clutchfans will be a better place."

smh. some people are really just pathetic. I'm far from a LOF - in fact, I've been saying since last season that Lin should be the 6th man. However, after watching Bev playing 30 mins per game, I just think he's not good enough to be a starter for a championship team. Lin should remain the 6th man, since the bench is weak, but this team needs a legit veteran PG as the starter, not Bev - I'm not a BOH either.

Wrong, Lin has played well most of the year.

Another thing that would be good for you to remember is that just because Clutch said something, that doesn't mean it is right. Clutch said Lin was in a slump. I wouldn't call two games after coming back from an injury a slump.

I like Clutch and this forum he has made, but you know he isn't the biggest Lin fan anyway.

Beverley is the Rockets best defensive guard by far.

Having said that I don't want Lin or Beverley starting for the Rockets.

Well, to be fair, he has been playing 10 less mins per game in the last 9 games compared to the first 9 games. But yeah, he has been on a shooting slump lately, which is completely normal. Even the best 3 point shooter in NBA history has been on some horrendous shooting slumps during his days in Boston and Miami.

I usually agree with you 90% of the time hoss but to be fair some things need to be factored in like minutes played and coming off of an injury. Those 2 factors do matter and can't just be diminished or ignored. I think given more time to get fully healthy and given his usual minutes his numbers should get back to the norm...that is if he's still here.

To be fair, u shouldnt include the 4 min + the 2 games after his injury in the 2nd half stats. If u exclude those his second half has slightly dipped, but its because in his first half he had those 2 30+ games against Phily and Raptors

I think it's OK for Rockets fans to have their own opinions. Bev's pathetic PER and inconsistent D is obvious for all to see.

If Lin the greatest PG in the NBA? Not even close but he is a solid player with NBA experience while the rookie Bev has no place being given this much leash to play poorly.

I said in another thread if the coaching staff doesn't believe in Lin then start AB. Brooks has proven he can be a starting NBA PG.

Bev has proven nothing so far except he is lacking in so many areas and it's doubtful he is the right player to start.

I said this before and it's 100% true.

There are defensive PG who are vastly better than Beverly on D who can't even make the NBA.

Inconsistent D which is only good against a certain type of opposing PG is all Bev brings to the table.

He can't run a offense and he can't score. That matters a lot.

Rafer during his time with the Rockets is vastly better than Bev in all areas and Rafer was attacked non-stop here.

You said "half" his games were "inconsistent".

What are you defining as "inconsistent"? Did you expect exactly 15 or 16 points every game?

As for Lin's 3 point shooting, 3 point shooting is notoriously volatile.

Kyle Korver is one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA. He's a career 40% shooter. Care to look at HIS game logs?

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/k/korveky01/gamelog/2014/

Brooks is our best 3pt shooter at the moment with 43.8%. Here's his game logs...

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/brookaa01/gamelog/2014/

Parsons is our 2nd best 3pt shooter at 40.6%. Here's his game logs...

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/parsoch01/gamelog/2014/

Lin's fluctuations in 3 point shooting are fully expected and should even out over the season.

Overall, Lin was clearly one of the most consistent players on the team if not THE most consistent in terms of production prior to injury.

Then he's 4-22 from three-point range in those 7 games.

I think the point may be missed. I'm not looking at his overall numbers -- part of the reason why his minutes, points are down (on average) is because he only played 4 minutes in the game he was hurt (against Atlanta). I'm replying to someone who took a statement that Lin was slumping, mainly from three-point range, as "anti Lin" and not a fact. It's accurate.

I will say that Lin has been very efficient finishing his drives so far this year.

Lin fell down seriously by a severe foul during the drive and bumped his arms.
Even since that game, his 3pt% dropped significantly. After that, he made significantly less 3pt shoot per game.

I would say it will take some more games to verify if his 3pts will recover or not.

According to Feign, Lin should not force himself back to game because Beverley 6 fouls last game, and his back spams become worse

it will take longer to recover

Unrelated but just curious about your opinion regarding Jones. Are you convinced about Jones as our future PF, or would you be open to traded him as well along with Asik?

I like Jones and how he is developing and think he's a good fit out there as long as Harden, Howard and Parsons are on the floor, but I'm always open to the right deal. That's the beauty of any young player showing improvement ... they're improving your team and increasing their trade value.

Rockets need Bev for sure, but they don't desperately need him to start. Not exactly your words but that's what you mean. Rockets need Bev as much as they need Lin. Lin was winning games when he was starting while Bev was injured, was he not?

Starting Bev is McHale/Sampson's decision, more Sampson's I think. Another head coach may very well be starting Lin. IMO, Rox will win just as many games starting Lin, if not more, as starting Bev. But we will never know that.

You wrote "Ball-dominant PGs do NOT win championships" and then mentioned Tony Parker, who is at or near the top of usage rate among pgs, in the next sentence, lol. As long as Harden's here, no pg will get anywhere near 20% usage rate, so I guess we are half way there.

I think your missing one important fact. With Harden we really don't need a traditional PG. That's just the truth. Hence, PB was given the starting role. Our coaching staff opted to make it this way to maximize Harden's skills. I agree that our offense could be potentially better with Lin as the starter but only if he was given the duties of a traditional PG. BUT this is not our coaching staff's philosophy. Under our current system we need someone who can help with defense and spot up for open shots. Unless there a major shift in our coaching staff's philosophy in the near future, guards like PB are a better fit.
