Stats so far this season support the notion that Lin's offense is much stronger than Bev's offense, and that Bev's defensive ability has been overrated while Lin's defensive ability has been underrated:

Games so far this season where Bev played and Lin did not:

Bev - 5 pts. (24min) vs. (Nets: Livingston (10min.) 0 pts., Tyshawan Taylor 16 pts.)
    Bev - 11 pts. (37 min) vs. (Spurs: Parker - 27 pts.)
    Bev - 8 pts. (38 min) vs. (Jazz: Burke - 21 pts.)
    Bev - 12 pts. (42 min) vs. (Suns: Dragic - 19 pts.)
    Bev - 6 pts. (33 min) vs. (Warriors: Curry - 22 pts.)
    Bev - 9 pts. (39 min) vs. (Magic: Afflalo - 16 pts.)
    Bev - 6 pts. (31 min) vs. (Kings: Thomas - 19 pts.)
    Bev - 15 pts. (34 min) vs. (Bulls: Augustin - 8 pts.)
    Bev - 8 pts. (30 min) vs. (Pacers: Hill - 12 pts.)

Games so far this season where Lin played and Bev did not:

Lin- 14 points (30 min) vs (Mavericks: Calderon-0 pt).
Lin--20 point s(36 min vs (Jazz: Tinsley-0 pt)
Lin--14 points (30 min) vs (Clippers: Paul-23 pts)
Lin -20 points (37 min) vs (Mavericks: Calderon: 15 pts)
Lin--13 points (34 min) vs (Spurs: Parker--6 points)
Lin--18 points (37 min) vs (Grizzlies: Conley- 11 points)

Don't really need stats to prove that lin is the better offensive player than Bev, but always nice to see for people who doubt. Thanks for posting

Beverley plays better as a defensive spark off the bench. That's when he has the most energy for lock-down defense.

Beverley with the starters is not just bad for offense, but also bad for defense, since it takes too much energy from him. Also, he has been scouted by the league so he cannot be used as a secret weapon anymore.

He did good for a while with Bevsanity, but now he has come back to earth.

WOW. Clear as daylight from those stats that Lin meshes better with the starting unit and is also a better defender.

But, i dont always trust stats. In my opinion, Bev is a better defender but can't run an offense and is not on the same level as Lin all-around. There was no question Lin is a much better ball player than Bev and its becoming quite clear the starting unit plays much better with Lin and NEEDS his skills to function well.

Just look at when Lin plays with the starter. Our offense freaking flows, slick as heck.
In my opinion, Lin has much higher chance of becoming a two way player than Bev. Develop this guy, dude can ball.

Look, whether we need a third max player to win now is irrelevant. Max players are the rarest commodity in the nba and you strive to add them whether needed or not. Morey is a greedy son of a b**** and is going to constantly try to improve the team. Howard isn't young, and who knows how long his body holds up. He has a player option in 2017, so not pursuing love is not an option. If anything you do it assuming the worst case scenario that either Howard declines tremendously or bolts in free agency, in which case the Harden/Love era can begin.

In an ideal world you can constantly cycle in and out superstars an never have to rebuild. I don't want to be the lakers with blind loyalty to a near worthless Kobe Bryant clogging up 20+ million for near zero production. I want constant improvement and to be a world class organization.

Yes, just about every player on the team since the moment Yao went down for good. Guess how many are still on the team.

We already have a third star, his name is Jeremey Lin.

Now, will the Rockets be able to afford Parsons and still bring in a 4th star? That is the question.

Agreed. Not sure why everyone seems to think we need another star to win, if you can develop your team well then anything can happen. of course the question is, would ti be easier to get a star player, OR get a new coach?

Spurs and Detroit have won champs too...getting stars seems to be the 'easy' approach - why can't we stick with what we have and work on it, or get some role players that does something really well?

The NBA is a copy cat league. The trend right now is "the big three." They will follow this approach until its no longer successful.

Beverley's offense would be welcomed at this point.

Our most consistent all-star, stud defender, elite scorer is playing poorly.

Lin would've scored alot more than 10pts in the 4th if it wasn't for Harden keep asking for the ball and running ISOs. Anyways, great win tonight.
