It was shady of him to call Lin out in public for being a homerun hitter last year after Lin had a good game. That revealed his true bias against Lin. I've heard coaches call out their players " in general" for being homerun hitter, but calling out a particular player by name in public. That doesn't serve any usefulness except to demoralize that particular player.

The problem with posts like yours is you can still make your point without bashing the players and bringing things that have nothing to do with their talent into the conversation. Also, this is a coaching choice, you're directing your anger toward the wrong individual.

Regardless of where you stand on the Lin vs. Bev debate, wtf is this shi**

And enough with the Mchale-hates-Lin rhetoric. With the way the dude is performing, no way in hell does Lin lose minutes. 6 weeks is a loooong time, Lin will get every chance to perform as the player the ROCKETS need him to be.

Was that after Jeremy dropped 38 on Tony Parker when he was on the short list for league MVP?

Most people thought the same thing when Lin started the season on fire and played well every single game of the year to start the season but that didn't stop McHale from putting Lin on a short leash and benching him against the Mavs after Lin played a few minutes and was 0-2. A game the Rockets lost where Lin was benched and played only 17 minutes. Before that game Lin played well every single game so don't think "no way in hell does Lin lose minutes". McHale can and will bench Lin at a drop of a hat if there is an alternative PG to play.

What the posters are saying is that there is no way in the world that Bev is better than Lin and he really isn't that close to him talent wise. This is very obvious even for the the most novice basketball fan. Beverly is great with his hustle and hard play, I love him on the Rockets but he doesn't belong in the starting five. Lin gets the ball up the court and makes the offense flow, that doesn't happen with Bev. Tonight with his 14 points in the 4th that was big.

why would you say that? lin is the sparkle in some of management's eye, including our owner. in order for him to not be in their plans, a bigger sparkle has to show up. TP? KD? Lamarcus? yeah those guys are not coming here.

We should know by trade deadline if Lin is part of the Rockets' future.

If he isn't traded by then and if Lin continues to improve on the defensive end and still maintain offensive production, I'm starting to think the coaching staff should bring him back into the starting lineup and commit to developing the Harden/Lin backcourt. I really like what I've seen so far from Lin's return and think he can turn into a consistent and good two-way player.

Even if Lin stays on past 2014-2015, how are the Rockets going to afford him with Harden, Dwight and (presumably) Chandler on the books? Lin would have to take a much reduced salary.

These fools don't listen and don't see the obvious. Les love Lin. Therefore, Lin stays as a Rocket.

Beverley will be on the trading block before Lin. But these guys get mad when you speak the obvious.

I have to say, as I was watching CP3 completely demolish Lillard last night (34pts,16a,6st) while Lillard struggled and Mo Williams put up excellent numbers, I couldn't help thinking if Portland fans have a PG controversy. Of course they don't, because they commit to their best players, understand they're young, and let them have ebbs and flows throughout the game and season.

We had a Rival Knicks coaching crew (JVG, Ewing) who ruined this team yet people still call for to come back.

The Celtics rivalry is so far in the past, it is dead and gone. Get over it.

Good point mate. Commitment is a 2 way street. How can you get young players to buy into your system when they are treated as an asset and aren't allowed to play through their mistakes? The only exception being max contract players and underpaid players like Parsons and Beverly.

I do not see Parson in the picture. Parson will be gone too if Morey is chasing a 3rd star. The Rockets simply cannot afford Parson if a 3rd star is signed. This is assume they can move both Asik and Lin.

Of course, going over the caps is an option, but let's assume Morey don't want to go over the caps.

    Bad assumption.

Morey and Les have already said that they are willing to go over the cap as long as they are in the championship window.

If you actually do the math there just are not enough shots to go around with Harden, Howard, Jones, Parsons and Lin. So it makes perfect sense to move an explosive shooter like Lin out of the starting role. And Lin is actually the PG who is finishing games. McHale is a great judge of talent and people, and Lin obviously is a much better player this season after spending a year under the Rockets coaching staff. Let McHale do his job.

For a good team, an $8 million starting PG seems to be the minimum. I'd think that Lin will be worth Teague/Conley/Hill money by the time he hits his prime, at the very least.

The only team that gets to be cheap at the PG slot is Miami, and that's only because they have LeBron.

Stop it. Having the best 5 dynamic players out there helps everyone get better shots and easier baskets because it keeps the defense on their heels. Half the argument from the Bench Lin guys was that Bev was a better 3 pt shooter which provides spacing. Now that Lin is the better shooter, that's what's supposed to keep him in the second unit? That's laughable.

We should move Lin back to the starting lineup and address the real issue--we have a lousy bench. They need to step it up or we need to make some moves to get some reliable vets in the 2nd unit.
