how come everyone has given up so quick on EG? how old is he? 21? 22? Didn't Jermaine O' Neal become an all-star at 23 years old? The Blazers didn't really give him a shot + he didn't have a great mentor. Isaiah Thomas has done a great job with him and look at O'Neal now. Can you say ALL-STAR?........ Give EG a mentor (please not francis or mobley) and in a year or two watch out. Besides wasn't everyone going crazy when we got him????? We knew he was going to take a few years to become something special and he's on the right track. If we give up on him now we'd better get someone better than Abdur-rahim because he'll be blocking shots on the whole leauge for another decade. Yao and EG is Twin Towers revisited. Plus, EG isn't finished growing. yikes! can he get to 7 feet??????? And about the weed episode, he isn't the only one smoking, how else would you explain the rox drafting collier, langhi, turkan, rhodes over Rashard, Mopete, Claxton, Magloire, Najera, Alexander? hehe...j/p...:D

I don't know if it's the smoking that is doing it to Eddie, but it certainly can't help a guy like him who already has a laid back disposition. Or is it the weed that made him laid back? He's bordering on comatose when he's out on the court.

Where is the EG who punched his teammate in the face back Seton Hall? That's the EG I'd like to see.

I don't care about EG's talent... it can only take him so far. How many laid back guys were All-Stars this year. It's about heart and a desire to improve. Off the top of my head I can't think of any.

The difference is that O'Neal always worked on his game with big people coaches in the off season.

    EG, well, he smokes pot.

Why is everyone saying EG is "comatose" on the court? From where i'm sitting, he hustles his ass off. every now and then he comes up with a completely unexpected steal, and for his slight frame is a great active rebounder.

Have there been any reports EG hasn't been working with the coaches on his game? I thought he was been diligent in working on his game. Sure he smokes pot, but so do a lot of NBAers and that doesn't mean he doesn't work on his game.

Why do people keep comparing Jermaine O Neal to EG?

Other than the fact both started the league at a young age and can block shots, they have very little similarities in their game.

Karl Malone went to Louisiana Tech. Randy White went to Louisiana Tech.

Dallas passed on Karl Malone so they werent going to make that same mistake twice.

Randy White is the next Karl Malone.

EG and JO have nothing in common. Why comparing them?

Tell the truth, I hate Eddie Griffin.

Rox really gave up too much for him.

Three draft picks including Jefferson and this season Kenney Thomas.

And Thomas put 13pts and 19 boards tonight and last 11 games average 14pts and 13 boards

At first glance, the thread title was confusing. I thought this was going to be a thread about this guy:

I agree that Griff's game and O'Neal's game are different although Griffin may end up playing like O'Neal after everything is done and said. Griffin needs a lot of work though.. I still suggest putting him on the second team and giving him the ball. Let him work with it in the post, give the go to drive and become the go to guy for a few minutes. He'd probly learn more that way than jacking jumpers like a spot up shooter with the occasional turn around jump shot. He was whooping it up in the summer league.. he could do very much the same next season. He needs a lot of coaching and practice.
