Didnt see this anywhere. Breaking news. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17730088/ WASHINGTON - The wife of Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards has a recurrence of her cancer, but her husband's campaign for the presidency will go on, the candidate said Thursday. “We are very optimistic about this,” Edwards said. “Having been through some struggles in the past, we know the key is to keep your head up and keep moving.” “We feel incredibly optimistic. I do not expect my life to be significantly different,” Elizabeth Edwards said. “The campaign goes on,” John Edwards said.
“We feel incredibly optimistic. I do not expect my life to be significantly different,” Elizabeth Edwards said. Terminal cancer is not a thing I would be optimistic about.
This is really bad news for the Dems. Their best candidate just saw his chances sink like a stone. I don't see how he can run hard for the next 18 months with this hanging over him. At this point, if I were a Dem, I would eliminate Edwards as a possibility. Time for a different person to become the Hillary/Obama alternative. I am so disappointed. Edwards was the one Dem out there I might have voted for. If Obama somehow miraculously gets the nomination, there is a very small chance I could vote for him. If Hillary wins, ain't no way!
I'm curious. What are the differences between Edwards and Obama that make you much more likely to vote for Edwards?
Obama is a mystery to me. He hasn't had the harsh light shine on him long enough. If he is still standing strong after getting attacked by Hillary and after some potshots by the GOP, I'll give him consideration. At this point in time, he must prove to me he has staying power. He must show me what kind of presidential campaign he will run. Last time, Edwards ran an optimistic campaign focusing on the future and what he would do, with not so many attack ads at his opponents. I'm a pessimist about politicians. My bet is Obama will crack and fade off the scene. He seems more like a phenomenon than a real candidate. As time goes on and I get a feel for what his presidency might be like, maybe my view changes. The current rush to back someone new on the scene who says he is "different" and wants a change from "old politics" is just drivel to me.
maybe i'm naive...i've certainly been had before by politicians. but edwards appears honest to me. that he's honestly wrestling with tough issues...and he's not afraid to say that. i suppose some could view that as a cop out...i just think it's being honest.
Well he is a very good trial lawyer. Seriously though best wishes for him and his family and hope his wife recovers or at least doesn't get any worse. Going on a slight tangent though I'm kind of annoyed by the talk that the Dems might lose one of their most viable candidates. It still bothers me that a year and a half from the election we are deciding who are viable candidates. The super front loaded campaign IMO is a huge disservice to US democracy and shuts out many capable people who may prove far more electable than the current crop just because they can't catch the early buzz or money.
Beware of the "fresh face, new voice, little experience" candidate, here in Mass, Deval has been our governor for barely 2 month, he has already been a disaster.
WOW. I question your judgment. Personal injury trial lawyers typically don't strike me as 'honest'. I'd characterize them as calculating, misleading, deceptive, unscrupulous snakes waiting to manipulate and coerce juries of unsuspecting dullards.
