"Several readers wrote in on Tuesday claiming that the Rockets may be a great fit. Some combo of Cuttino Mobley and Kelvin Cato or Mo Taylor works under the cap. But Pat Riley wouldn't be getting the cap flexibility he's looking for with that deal."

all BBS responants? Without 'throwing' in Caron, there is absolutely no way EJ comes here for any combination of the two (or three?) guys mentioned.

Since Riles is not putting CB into play, there is no deal between Mentor and Mentee.

The on-court production & age vs. salary cap ratio issue makes this trade horrible for us.

Cuttino and Mo Taylor for Eddie Jones, hmmmmm. If they throw in a conditional 1st rounder it might be do-able.

    I would do this deal:

    Mobley & Taylor

    for

    Jones & M. Allen

This would strengthen our team and give a strong back up rebouding power forward.

Yes, I think that EJ is a better all around player than Mobley, he just cost too much. However, when you throw in Mo Taylor's horrible contract it doesn't make EJ's contract hurt so much.

Eddie Jones is a SG and not PF! Eddie's prime time is over, he is nothing but expandable. No room for him in Htown.

Because of what Eddie brings to the table. I think he will complement Steve very well and get everyone involved.

    Losing Maurice- no big loss.

I guess some of you are forgetting how freaking old Eddie Jones is.

And having EG as our best and only option at pf? No thanks.

let's see. We've already lost one starter to FAncy. Now you want to do a 2 starters for 1 trade? Eddie Griffin is *not* an NBA starter, certainly not for JVG...unless he seriously turns his attitude around.

Any reasonably likely trade of Mo and Mobley for one starter must first be preceded by Eddie proving he is worth 35mpg on a JVG team in the West, or us landing a legit PF worthy of 25mpg...like a Malik Rose. We are not deep enough to be making 2 for 1s, especially after not paying Posey.

If we could trade Mobley and Taylor for Jones and Allen it would be a big improvement IMO.

Jones brings a game that would fit JVG and our team well. Bigger than Mobley, better defender and better 3 point shooter.

    M. Allen is a PF (6'10'' 255#) that was Miami's starter last year, averaging 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds & 1 block a game in 29 minutes. Although he is a restricted free agent (3rd year player)and would have to work with the Rockets to get this done.

If we could swing this trade it would be an improvement. We could have a 2 man rotation at power forward, since Allen and E. Griffin have different styles of play, depending on match ups.

The bigger question is why would Miami do this. They would not get cap flexibilty and they would be trading for Mobley on a team which is already has a young SG in Wade.

The only reason I can see Miami wanting to do this trade, it to make Mobley a 6th man in order to not upset the egos of the other starters.

Also, them wanting a scoring PF. Taylor is know as a much more scoring threat than any of the PF they have on the team.

This would be the only reason I can see.

I would rather persue Shareef Abur Rahim than Eddie Jones. SAR's contract ends much sooner and I think he would add MORE to the team with low post scoring than what Jones would bring to the team. How much better is Jones than Mobley? Marginal difference if you ask me. Than ask yourself how much better SAR is than Griffin. Big difference there.
