No matter how we bashed about EG, there are scouters out there actually thinking EG still has a chance to be a special player. Well, good and bad news. I think another good trade bait is SF. We should be able to get a first draft pick for him. I think all year long, the reason why we won games is team basketball. I don't think SF is de facto. And there are at least 22 teams out there salivating a guy like SF.

But I also need to add this. If Rudy is coming back to coach, I don't expect a big change in the team. First he'll not undo the decisions he made on MoT, Moochie, and EG because that would be a big slap in his face and his reputation as a coach would be ruined.

Who would want to get rid of their All Star for a short point guard with offensive hops and defensive flaws who is still in training?

Oi Vey! And with this comment, the silly season of the bbs has truly begun.

You won't be able to trade Steve - not for a better player. EG's trade value is at an all-time low - the Rockets would be stupid to trade him unless they got a ridiculous offer.

Name 1 who is tradeable or even a team would trade.
    and compare them to Steve.

Please do not say AI because he is a poor shooter.
Only reason he gets his points is because he HOGS the ball.

I agree with artificial. Its hard to give up steve because he is fun to watch, but times are a changin.

    francis/griffin/collier/morris/picks for brand/odom/dooling(or jaric)

    jaric/posey/odom/brand/ming sixth man=mobley ..MLE=jon barry

Or we can just stick with what we got now.You decide.

I was under the impression that CD was like one of the main guys that had to "pull the trigger" to do those things, like Eddie, Mot, and Moochie( this is the only rocket besides Dan Langhi, I actually HATE:mad: ) but I may be wrong....

you want to trade francis for a first round draft pick????

why would any of the two teams do this?? we would be the second clippers (who didn't make the play offs) and they would be the second rockets (who didn't make the play offs) without Mobley and Ming. Why does everybody wants to trade for the clippers team?

you do know francis was the starting guard of the west all-stars? and one of the few players who is able to average 20-6-6 i think nobody wants him. The fact that he is constantly bashed oon this forum doesn't mean that nobody thinks he is good. the only players i would trade him for are: Bryant, mcgrady, garnett. duncan.

wow thats whack .There are so many things wrong with this,It will take me about 3 pages to go into detial. But the rockets org knows Im right and is saying "hummm!"

    make it simple: odom>griffin...brand>francis....parks>collier...jaric>morris

I rest my case. Good night.

how is jaric/posey/odom/brand/MING the same team "that didnt make the playoffs". Geez,I'll never understand some of you.Put ming and posey on the clippers with a good coach and they would terrorize the L.

The difference between EG being the board b*tch and being a decent role player is largely his shooting percentage. If it goes up as much in his third year as it did from year 1 to 2 we start having a pretty nice role player.

A Karl Malone? Hardly. But I did some numbers in another thread and we could have a player about as useful as Kelvin Cato was last season.

OK, let's see, Steve Francis for Kobe Bryant? That fits your criteria right? OK then, and then Kelvin Cato for Ben Wallace and Tito Maddox for Steve Nash will probably follow suit. Sounds like a plan to me.

if those players are so much better then why would the clippers do the trade? Jaric/posey/odom/brand/ming would make the play offs? But a team of Miller/piatowski odom brand olowokandi woudn't? Jaric isn't a good player, posey is a good role player, odom is nice if he can play. Brand is great i agree. Ming was good, but not good enough to get the rockets to the play offs. And please do not say it is al Francis fault. because Francis was the best player this year, Maybe Yao wil be even with him in a couple of years. but not this year. Franics isn't less then Brand, he plays a different position. so you can't compaire. But if you want to compaire you can not say that brand is better. atleast IMHO

the rockets Org know you are right? i wil not have a comment on that. Why would the clippers with posey and Yao terrorize the L? When will some people realize that the clippers players aren't that great. Some people really think that the clippers a one of the best team or something. The clippers had a record 27-55. sure with Ming and posey they would terrorize the L:rolleyes: They where worse then Memphis. Posey is nothing bt a good role player. and Yao will be a great center, but now he is a good one.

The reason the "scouters" think EG is special..is that he is very skilled for his age. EG is 6 months older than Amare Stoudemire and Amare just got out of high school prior to this season.
EG is a better shot blocker than Amare and has more range as a shooter. Amare gets a couple more rebounds a game than EG and Scores a few more points but also logs more playing time.
EG is already a good player at 20 yrs old, most "scouters" think he will improve with experience ..soon.

Stats are misleading, between Eddie and Amare there is no comparison.

Eddie plays with a skinny kid's passive indifference, Amare is a physical beast and plays with aggression and attitude. That is why Amare is about 10x more likely to have a successful NBA career.

I don't know how many times I have to say this but it is going to be very hard to trade Francis since he has that new contract.

I may be dreaming about this but Francis's contract is one that is on par with guys like McGrady, Iverson, and others that have max deals or if it isn't now, it will be. So, right there that will make it tough to deal him for a superstar. Sure Payton was traded for Ray Allen, but those deals don't happen very often, maybe once a season or so you will see a blockbuster deal.

More often, you see a deal where one guy is traded for a slew of role players. We were on the receiving end of the Barkley deal (we got the superstar) and also on the other end with the role players (in the Quitten deal).

Now let's say that Les tells CD and Rudy that Francis has to go despite the fact that he signed him to that contract. We would be in the same situation as the Quitten one...dealing one guy for either a superstar or a slew of role players. We believe that this team is close to really doing something in the playoffs once we ever get there, right? So, why on earth do we need to add 4 or 5 or however many role players to the team?? Sure, there is always that possibility of getting a blockbuster deal like the Payton-Allen thing, but that possibility is a slim one at best. So, for the last time, let's end the ideas of trading Francis now. I am frustrated with him like many people here but we are going to have to make due with what we got. If we can get Larry Brown in here and move Rudy upstairs, I think that would help things tremendously.

Now on to Eddie....I am in the camp of trading Eddie now. I realize that his stock is probably low because let's face it, Eddie is a disappointment right now. Of course, playing 1 year of college, being 20, and having his growth stunted by the great coaches we got has something to do with it, but after 2 years, you would think that if EG was really the real deal that he could rise above that. Maybe it is due to his lack of passion or fire or maybe he is just overwhelmed by it all and it will still take some time ala Jermaine O'Neal. But seeing Richard Jefferson doing the things that he is doing makes this situation even more pronounced. Now, my bet is that there are plenty of teams who feel that Eddie can eventually become like a Jermaine O'Neal and would want to take a chance on him. However, that is the great thing about looking at trades, there is always that element of risk in seeing a player flourish in new surroundings compared to his old one. The Rockets will be taking a huge chance that Eddie never becomes a better player than he is now by trading him away, yet they also may never get a better deal for him and (hopefully) Mobley if they don't pull the trigger this off-season.

I would try to trade Eddie, Mobley, and one other to get a guy who can play both guard positions and/or small forward that can handle the ball like a Lamar Odom to take the pressure off Francis and let him concentrate more on scoring, and also get a banger down low like an Otis Thorpe type. Brand would be great but this banger doesn't even need to be a guy that would demand that many shots; he should be like Rodman and just go and rebound.

Actually, I dared to compare them, by watching many of Amares games (NBA league Pass) and all of EGs. What I saw in EG, was a kid who needs to bulk up, lacked aggresiveness and confidence..who was already a better shotblocker than Amare and had more range as a shooter. The stats back it up.

Richard Jefferson's efficiency rating/48 minutes is about 19.106 according to my trusty copy of Easy Calc and a lil Sony Clie by my desk.

Eddie Griffin's ER/48 minutes, seems to be:

    (271*2 + 64 + 461 +86 + 52 + 111 - (671 - 271) - 136)/(1890/48) = 19.63

Woa! Eddie is already better than Jefferson by some offensive measures, and we have barely got his shooting percentage to 40.0% ;)

Imagine how much better he'll be if Eddie can shoot 44% ;)

    dw,

Explain to me what you are meaning by "efficiency rating"?

In other words, what are the components that make that stat up?
