For those of you that are continuing to follow Eddie Griffin on the Wolves, tonight he LED the Wolves in scoring with 23pts (10-14FGs, 3-4 3ptrs) and 7 rebounds as the Wolves beat the hapless Hornets 99-94.

Looks like Griffin is getting big minutes off the bench in Minnesota.

Honestly, I've always liked the game and potential which Eddie exhibited during his brief experience with the Rocks. In fact, I was mega-hyped when we were able to pull of the deal to get him and personally believed he had more potential then Francis and as much upside as Yao. Unfortunately, as hindsight has proven to us all, EG was also extremely misguided and immature.

I still have little doubt that Eddie's game can still advance, he simply has too much talent to ignore. I'm sure he will become a solid player in the NBA, provided he doesn't continue his trend of making idiotic decisions off the court. It's a shame that we had to get rid of him, but given the situation at the time, it is also painfully obvious that we had to cut him loose. I wish him the best as he continues his career, yet I am also hoping that he will mature and not waste the opportunity afforded to him.

If Rudy T were still the coach, no way he would let EG deterioate like that. EG would still be a rocket.

Eddie suffered from depression and was an alcoholic. I doubt Rudy or JVG's presence had anything to do with that.

It angers me that he could and should have demonstrated that talent when he was in Houston.

I hope he tears an ACL.

We could use him right now.

JVG had the wrong approach. My-way-or-the-highway won't get it. We had multiple chances to bring him back, for virtually nothing.

Instead we have Mo Taylor, Juwon Howard and Padgett.

Griffin was a bad guy, but you haters don't want to face the fact that we pissed away the rights to rehab and use him. If you have a bad egg, you send him down to triple AAA, to a halfway house, to skills camp. You set him up with Lucas. You don't just blow that invested capital.

If I had a flat tire, should I burn my car?

i like eddie's game and wish he was still playing for us but i think it's a joke to take any of the blame away from the man himself. it's his own fault what happened here and the rockets only mistake, in hindsight of course, was trading three picks for a kid who wan't ready to be a man.

How many times did he score 23 points coming off the bench in Houston?

Well his career high is 25 - which he has scored twice. I'm pretty sure one of those was as a starter - but I don't see the difference whether he started or was off the bench in terms of demonstrating his potential.

His highs (with Houston) also include

    16 rebounds
    5 assists
    3 steals
    7 blocks

I think it's safe to say that he showed his potential while playing for the Rockets.

What I find most sad about the whole Eddie Griffin thing is the fact that he is back in the league and playing for another team. It really sucks!

I mean, I totally thought the guy was a basket case (who wouldn't after what happened) - but yet one short year later he's playing in the NBA again. We had the guy under contract, but instead of maybe suspending him for a year and getting someone to work with him on his personal life we just cut him - took the easy route and now have to suffer while he (maybe) goes on to become a solid player.

How useful would it be to have a 6'11 shot blocker who likes to rebound and has a moderate 3pt shot?

 Waaaaaaaaaa. It's JVG's fault. Waaaaaaaaaa.

EG, as stated earlier, was an alcoholic and unstable in more than one way. He shot at his ex-girlfriend -- what if he would've hit her? Or worse, killed her? The Rockets, not JVG, set the right example in dumping the kid. This is a class act organization, and having people like him on the roster only hurts. Go back to Detroit, pasox.

It might not have had anything to do with it, but as a former alcoholic himself, Rudy might have been able to help Eddie.

I thought the Rockets did a poor job of helping out a 19 year old kid learn to be an adult in an NBA world.

They should have signed him this year to a small contract, he is the perfect compliment to Yao at the 4.

he hives us inside defense that we don't have since we traded cato. he also has some range on his jumper, and he can play some center.
