Eddie Griffin busted for mar1juana possesion AGAIN!

    Tuesday, January 20, 2004

    Associated Press
HOUSTON -- Former Houston Rockets forward Eddie Griffin was found guilty of mar1juana possession Tuesday.

Harris County Criminal Court-at-Law Judge Larry Standley said he would sentence Griffin, now with the New Jersey Nets, on Feb. 13.

Standley convicted Griffin of the misdemeanor after a daylong bench trial in which defense attorneys challenged the legality of the search that led to his April arrest.

"This is not expected to have any impact on Eddie's play with the Nets, or interfere with his ability to make a comeback," said Griffin's attorney, Rusty Hardin.

Griffin, who signed with the Nets following his release from the Rockets, also is scheduled to answer a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Feb. 13. That charge is based on an alleged fight with a woman in October. Hardin said his client has not yet been indicted on the felony charge.

Griffin was arrested in April on the mar1juana charge.

He was suspended from the Rockets in October for a series of missed practices and a skipped flight to Sacramento, Calif. Later that month, a woman accused him of hitting her three times in the face and shooting at her as she drove away from his Houston home before dawn on Oct. 25.

Griffin, a 6-foot-10, 232-pound forward, averaged 8.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.63 blocks in 150 career games during two seasons with the Rockets.

Maybe he was found in possession at Veteran's Stadium. Whoops, they're tearing that down.

Hey, I thought my sarcasm was better. This conviction was from a bust last April.... so no, he wasn't busted again.

    Try again DREW! :)

Well...of course he's guilty. I wonder what his punishment will be...or whatever you call it...his charge..

Eddie..the story still makes me sad.

I was confused for a sec.

Glad to see it took less than a year to convict him.

I wonder how long it will take for him to be in trial and be found inocent or guilty for his violence with the lady.

If he does any jail time, it won't be more than a matter of days.

I would like to see all of the EG apologists on this board do something positive like chip in and buy him a "going in" present - something useful and practical like soap on a rope...

God knows he deserves the soap-on-a-rope treatment. He's been giving it to The Rockets for two years, he oughta receive it as well.

What's the league's stance on players found guilty of drug charges?

Do they suspend the players just like they suspend them if a drug test turns up positive? Did Griffin get suspended when he was first cited for drug possession? If not, I'd think he'd get suspended for being found guilty, similar to a suspension for failing a drug test.

I think he would be suspended games but since he isnt playing I dont know how that works.

Does he get suspended once he starts playing again? Oh well doesnt make any difference to me. I hope he spends a lil time in jail so he learns better.. in the words of Prej from Seattle..
