If all you guys want to keep in track of how SF doing, and why not Eddie?

Because Francis actually played his heart out on the court and was the franchise player for the Rockets.

Griffin, on the other hand, was a huge bust who bailed on the Rockets and who had criminal charges against him.

    Does that answer your question?

I understand but we waived this guy and let him go. At least we get someone back for SF trade. If Eddie turn out to be good a player again, we have nothing. It will remind Rockets staff if EG incident happens again for the other players in future, will we give him a chance or just let go?

When a player causes as much trouble and displays such a bad attitude as EG did, you just cut your losses and get rid of him. You don't want a bad apple like that on your team, distracting the team, creating a foul mood in the locker room and setting a bad example for everyone else. Regard it as a sunk cost and move on.

I don't mind 'em either - but just put 'em in the NBA area as they are not Rockets topics.

In 12 minutes he took 12 shots  and didn't get a single rebound. Dikember Mutombo just had 10 points, 9 boards and 2 blocks. I believe we are ok.

Griffin was one of the worst Rockets draft picks ever, and by far the worst in recent memory. Not many people particularly care to be reminded of this constantly.

And no, not all ex-Rockets deserves to be kept track of. There's a reason why there are Francis threads, but not on Cato, Wilks, Pike, Matt Maloney, Randy Livingston... need I go on?

So does that apply to every single NBA player who has ever worn a Rocket uni?

He's gone. He's never coming back.

    Let it go.

Is Matt Maloney still in the league? Someone please tell me that he is so I can start a thread about how he performs in a preseason game.

He's doing much better than Nachbar so far.

I don't know why folks complain every time there is an EG thread. The EG threads will keep coming regardless. Save yourself some trouble and skip them.

What I noticed is while he did take 12 shots in 12 minutes, notice NONE of them were 3pt attempts.

I still think we should have given him another chance considering what we invested in him. I guess time will tell though.

first off, in order to keep him, the Rockets would have had to pay him under the 4th year league slotted rookie salary - which is a couple of million. Minny is NOT giving this guy anything close to that. He had no trade value - so the ROx made the right decision.

Second, Houston was not the only team to cut him - remember, the Nets picked him up and then promptly dropped him too.

Look he will have some nice nights, but we can get 11 pts and 3 rebounds, in 12 mins, out of Scott Padgett or Deke ... without the headaches or the gun play

    get over it !

PS - Steven Hunter (Mr. cut by the Magic - and passed over by every other NBA team) had a WHOPPING 8 points and TWO WHOLE BLOCKS in his preseason game for the Suns

... hope alantong is not a Magic fan too (he would be all over that)

No matter how Griffin plays from now on, the Rockets HAD to cut him last year. Had the Rockets kept him, the message they send would be that he can continue to do whatever the Hell he wants, because the Rockets wouldn't dare cut loose such a major investment. By cutting him, at least Griffin got a dose of reality that may cause him to turn his life around.
