    (G) Gabe Pruitt, USC Jr. 6'-4" 178 lbs.
The Rockets need some help at the point, and Pruitt offers size as well as a good reputation for creating shots for teammates without accumulating many turnovers. His perimeter shooting dipped a bit as a junior, but he has a number of different ways to score when needed: pull-up jumpers, penetrations into the lane, shooting 80 percent from the foul line.

I don't follow college hoops much at all so I figured I'd see what anyone else had to offer on this subject. From what's written here I like him though.

I don't know call me crazy but the thought of a good sized point guard who can create sounds appealing to me. Especially if we go more up tempo as expected. I mean, I'd like to get a PF as well but we have to go one way or the other. I think if I had to choose I'd go with the PG first. So I'd be happy with it.

I think V-Span already fills that role and is 6'4" too.......I think we have our PG already, and want a PF that can guard Yao's back.

He would be worth that pick and I know they are looking for a PG.
It would be a very good pick.

Alot will depend on free agency.

As of now (and that can change with Adelman)
    They are looking

    1. Point Guard
    2. 2 Guard
    3. Power Forward
    4. Back up Center

I'd take him... and Adelman spends plenty of time scouting the west-coast players.

I'm excited about having a coach who will look to the draft to add a player to the rotation rather than the pine. If RA wants a PG, I'm a happy camper. If he sees a PF he likes, I'm delighted. If he sees a SG that he prefers, I'm on the bandwagon. Just get us a player, Rick!

Even if things don't work out as planned this year... I like the fact that we are taking chances again with our players instead of going for the sure thing.

And the love affair continues...you two really should get a room.

Nothing against VSpan, but there is ZERO indication he is our point guard of the future. Adelman said he didn't even know anything about "the guys that didn't play" last season. There's an VERY good chance Billy "Jordan" Spanoulis heads back to Greece this offseason.

I'm not saying we should draft a point guard just to draft one, but it's foolish to think we have our guy already.

Maybe Span isn't the PG of the future, but one could argue that there is also ZERO indication that he couldn't be the PG of the present. He's quick, athletic, tough, and can finish around the basket. Outside shooting aside, those attributes would have been helpful during the course of the season this past year. JVG didn't even give him a chance.

i think rockets should look for PF first, SG (with some pg skill) 2nd. I'd rather the rockets get a pg with some more experience and that we know can run a team from day 1.

    Jeff,

It is just what I think. I don't see how drafting a rookie PG is any different than giving V-Span a chance, both are unknowns, right?

I would rather the team play a guy who has a year's experience under his belt, and has proven himself on a tougher world stage than a low first round rookie pick.

Anyway, it is what I think & believe but whatever is good for the team I am all on board for.......

Take the best player available. If we're still trying to be contenders, a late pick in the draft is an investment in the future, not someone we're counting on for the rotation. I'm looking to trades and free agency to make up for weaknesses at pg and pf.

they are both of equal value. Just think of the games we would've won with rafer shooting 45%, thats like a 3-4 point swing every game, plus possibly better defense 2-3 point swing for almost 6 points. It would gotten us into the 2nd round.

Pf would really open things up for yao plus help yao out defensively against beasts like boozer.

ZERO indication? How do you know? Did you attend all the team practices last year?

If a guy sucks at practice, what's the point of playing him during the games? To prove to Clutchfans.com posters that he's not ready for the NBA? Not saying he DID suck at practice, just that we don't know how he looked at practice, whereas JVG did.

People keep saying JVG didn't give him a chance, but what if he DID get a chance during practice and couldn't cut it?

he certainly didnt cut it in most of the games he played.

people need something to hope for...i just wish they would be more realistic about it all

Think you missed the part in the initial post about low turnovers. V-Span is the T-Mac of the TO.
