Up for grabs is an authentic Calvin Murphy Championship Ring. At least it looks authentic. When I attended Rice's Summer Camp I got to wear the ring of the team's photographer who was taking pictures of the camp and I remember looking at it closely and it seems like its the same thing.

    Any brave takers?

Something like that should never go on sale. Man, that thing's beautiful, though.

I'm with you there, I wonder why:
    a) calvin would have gotten rid of it
    b) why someone who would have gotten hold of it would re-sell it

I mean...it's not like championship rings are just out there to be acquired...

Wow, nice find. The ring is beautiful and I kinda wish I could afford it (damn college expenses!) but I wonder how the hell that ended up on ebay  I hope the person who buys it takes good care of it. I know I would.

Look at the auction. It's being sold at the Hall of Fame. Obviously it's legit. And there's probably more to this story than's being told. It'd be nice to hear about why it's for sell from Calvin himself.

You think my girlfriend would say yes if I asked her to marry me with that?

Haha...I'd love to see the look on her face when you put the ring on her finger. Actually it would probably on her fingers, because she most likely will be able to fit 2+ fingers into that ring at once!

wow, it looks so real. I wonder if it really is his. Why would he give it up like that? Wish there was a way to find out.

Check out some of the other lots: Isaiah Thomas's ring is up, as is Jordan's. I don't think that means Calvin was in any financial trouble...

Those other rings are replicas. Calvin's ring is the real deal.

    Bare with my ignorance...

May I know which party is responsible to give these championship rings to their players? I guess that's not from NBA. So what prize would NBA present to the players of the championship team?

The ring is so beautiful and it is sad if it was genuinely asked for sale by Calvin Murphy himself. Not that he is in any financial problem or what but it represents the respect and recognition this organisation (Rockets) has once given to him. :(

lets not forget Calvin was unemployed and had a huge trial to clear his name.
i'm sure lawyer fees were very expensive.

shame on the rockets for not rehiring Calvin. this is why I think they stunk and had so much bad luck last season. the rockets deserve that when they diss one of their own legends like that. they are suppose to support him until he is proven guilty. he was proven innocent so take him back now!

not a bad call - we should see if we could get someone in the chronicle to cover it.
