Why didn't you give any feedback? I don't use ebay myself, but from what I understand, people rely on the reputations derived from users' track records to decide whether they should buy or not. As a public service, shouldn't you give your feedback so that future bidders can make informed choices? ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I ordered a rockets ball for $162 and never recieved it. The seller says it is not his fault. So I filed with the insurance claim. Also the seller is "willing" to give me half of the money back. HOW FREAKIN GENEROUS!!!!!!!!! Also I ordered a nintendo game in March which I still have not received. ------------------

Obviously some folks are happy to get scanned images passed off as photographs. Oh well... live and learn. rH
I've sold alot of stuff on eBay and bought a few things. Unfortunately, out of the few things I've purchased, I got ripped off twice(never got the item). Fortunately one of those times I got my money back from the seller after 5 months of basically harassing and threatening him with legal action. ------------------ burp
Wow! You guys have had TERRIBLE experiences. I've bought and sold literally hundreds of things on eBay. Once, UPS broke some of the things I sold, so they paid for them. One item got lost in transit and the post office paid for it. A couple of times, people didn't pay for items they bid on, but I just relisted. I've also had a couple of things returned to me for refunds but that is just part of selling stuff. As for purchase, I don't think I've ever been stiffed (knocking furiously on wood!!!). I've returned a few things because they were damaged or mis-represented, but nothing else. Rockets03: If your item was lost in transit and you didn't request insurance (or the seller didn't offer it), it isn't the seller's fault. To be honest, them offering you half of your money IS very generous because they fulfilled their end of the transaction. If the post office screwed up, they are the one's to blame. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...
Actually out of all the stuff I've bought, the photo thing is about the worst thing that's happened. I've bought close to 40+ items. I'm dealing with a guy right now, who mis-shipped my stuff and has offered to refund my money, but we're waiting in case someone fesses up about a wrong shipment (I really want the Francis rookie cards I ordered) If we don't hear from the guy who has my cards, I will get my money back. I got an autographed Octavio Dotel instead of my 2 Francis cards. rH ------------------ visit: The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love! Actually, I completely forgot about the worst thing of all. I ordered some congas from a guy online. They are rather large and came in two boxes via UPS. Our UPS person knows us well because she delivers to us all the time, but the congas had the wrong address on them and she didn't look at the name on the package. The boxes were delivered to a neighbor and left on their porch. Here in the Heights in Houston, UPS is allowed to leave packages on porches - they've done it forever. Anyway, she left them and they disappeared. Turns out that the girl who rents the house was out of town and her musican/drummer boyfriend was picking up her mail. When I asked her about it, she said she hadn't gotten anything as far as she knew. Bottom line: the dirt bag walked off with my congas. UPS paid for the mistake with the insurance and, fortunately, the seller had another pair of similar congas (he owned a music store) and shipped them to me at the correct address. That was the worst. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...
I order a couple of Rockets posters once and opted for insurance and then UPS damaged them. They were in a roll but very tight so when the tube got bent the posters did too and they were damaged pretty bad. I contacted the seller and they told me to call UPS and have the forms faxed to them which I did and they promptly got new posters in the mail to me. This all ended up fine so I have yet to have a bad ebay experience. ------------------ ~John~ Help keep the obsessed thread alive post the reasons why you are an obsessed Rockets fan by clicking here
For new EBayers out there -- I'd highly recommend you only buy semi-expensive stuff from buyers who have alot of positive feedback... The feedback system is great in that if someone has had 200 pieces of feedback, all positive, you can probably be assured that you won't be ripped off. ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets.
Jeff you know what I should do? Is there any way to make UPS pay for it. I for some reason thought that insurance would be included (he did charge 15 dollars for shipping). Is there any way to make UPS pay for it? ------------------
In general, this is true but I've bought and sold things worth as much as a couple thousand bucks without any real problems. Feedback is most definitely the key. You can tell when someone is full of crap. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...
First, you have to determine if the seller incuded insurance on the shipment. UPS includes up to $50 automatically, but anything beyond that costs a little extra. Usually, you have to request insurance from the seller if they don't specifically say they will include it. Check with the seller to see if he/she insured the package. If that person did, you are in business. However, the seller is responsible for filing the claim. You have to file one as well, but they will pay insurance to the seller who will have to pay you. When we had broken stuff with UPS, I filed the claim as the seller and just paid the people a refund well before I got money from UPS. If you seller is worth their salt, they'll do the same. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...
I recently bought a photograph on ebay of the "94 Houston Rockets Championship Team" It WAS a picture but it wasn't from a negative. It was picture of a scanned image printed on photo paper. I could totally tell once I received it. Looking closely you could see the dots from the scan. If you scan a printed image then enlarge it, the grainy-ness and four color dots (don't know the name of them) begins to show... and that's when I noticed. I didn't leave any negative feedback about it but take this as a warning when purchasing photographs on ebay... Now on another note, I have purchased autographed pics that were on Officially Licensed NBA Photos, these were legitimate. So not all pics are scans!! Just be careful. Luckily I only paid like $5 total. You can only tell if your a geek and look real close. bid with caution, rH ------------------ visit: The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love! I've got you all beat. I bought 2 factory sealed boxes for $240 about a year ago & when they came in, they looked just fine, so I went ahead & left positive feedback. I didn't open them until the next day, but as I was opening them the wrapper seemed to be stuck to the box, so I assumed that he had taped them to keep the wrapper from tearing any further. The boxes had an insertion rate of 1 rookie & 1 autographed card per box. These were the first 2 boxes of all the ones that I had ever opened & didn't find any rookies or autos in them. It was then that I checked out the wrappers again & realized that he had cut down 2 sides of the wrapper to slide the box out & then retaped it when he put the box back in. I figured that I had gotten screwed & wasn't going to do anything about it, until I received an email from another bidder asking if I had experienced this very thing. As it turned out, "fluffy15" had 2 other 2 box lot auctions at the same time as mine & we all got ripped off. Anyway, to make a long story short, I filed a claim & got $175 back. So I lost $65 in that deal. They suspended him just recently (about a year later), because he was doing it again. He actually had a little over 100 positive with no negative at the time of my bid. Jeff, What's your Ebay user id? Mine's "toddhug". You sound like an honest seller to deal with. ------------------
Sometimes when you leave negative feedback, the seller gives it right back to you even though you may be telling the truth. then you're stuck with a red number "1" underneath negative feedback column for 6 months! I was once ripped by some dude for a cheap plastic charm, was very unhappy and simply stated it was a cheap charm and not worth the 20 bucks I paid, which was a simple truth. I was unhappy with my purchase! He responded negatively by sayng,"This buyer blackmails sellers, BEWARE" What a JERK! Now, I don't leave any feedback at all when I'm unhappy, which is usually never. Ya just gotta be careful. ------------------ "When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.''
We use two different one's and they are just our emails. jeff@rebeccascottage.com - I just use this for my stuff - music junk, etc. Very few feedbacks. rebecca@rebeccascottage.com - This is our main one for everything else. We are up to 283 feedbacks now. mr oily: Man, you said it on the revenge negative feedback. We make it a practice to only VERY rarely give negative feedback. It can really come back and bite you. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...
By the way, here's the latest Rockets thing I got on Ebay... San Diego Rockets cards from a Cracker Jack box. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel... [This message has been edited by Jeff (edited May 08, 2001).]
I believe that Ebay offers up to $200 for your merchandise not received. Or maybe they used to, I ordered at set of two dvds and didn't receive them, so they reimbursed me. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Less the $25 deductable. Why don't they just say we'll give you $175 if you get screwed? Because, it doesn't sound as good in the press. ------------------
