So, have a look: http://espn.go.com/nba/standings/_/type/expanded Observe: in the entirety of the Eastern Conference, one team has a winning record vs. teams with winning records: the Heat. Every single other team in that conference has a losing record vs. other teams that are .500 or above, except the Knicks, who are presently 13-13. The Rockets are 16-17 The Lakers are 12-23
The East is weaker than the West. That's not really news. I legitimately believe the Rockets would be 2nd or 3rd in the East this season with an Eastern conference schedule.
For sure. The only teams that pose a threat to the Rockets in a series would be Indiana and the Heat. The Rockets as currently constructed would be favourites to make the ECF.
If you adjust the Rockets current win % to match (for example) Indiana's schedule, they go to 35-26, or 4th seed, in the East. That's not a great way of doing the sums, but it would work against the Rockets rather than in their favour, so it'd be worst case 4th in the East.
Keep saying they should just do away with conferences. Only the best teams in THE LEAGUE advance. As a Rockets how can you NOT think of that. The Bulls without MVP Derrick Rose are still solid in the East The Rockets without James Harden in the West would be stink-o-rama down there with the Hornets.
Its called (L)eastern Conference for a reason. Manufactured superstars like Jordan and Lebron wouldn't survive and the day in and day out level of elite play you get out West and then try to get through the better teams in the playoffs who are mostly out West
I don't even know if any eastern team other than Miami would make the playoff in the west. Lebron sure saved a lot of wear and tear playing those teams night in and night out.
can you imagine if we were in the east and the youngest team in the league was a 2nd seed? history making
maybe the Rockets would be the 8th seed? the record is good enough for the 8th in the East right now. vs. 500 is a pretty wishful way to judge, seeing how GSW is terrible judging by that stat and they are ahead of Houston at the moment.
