Given Shaq's sub-par performance this past year and with LeBron and Darko likely ending up in the East, do you all believe that this year's draft will help shift some of the power from the 90s (when the Rockets weren't busy winning championships) back into the hands of the East??

IMO, the West was stronger throughout the 90's as well. Every year there were 6+ teams that won 50 or more, the east usually only had 4 or fewer. Yes, the champiion came from the East, more often than not, but they had a less difficult road as well.

Yeah, it couldn't have been that the East had more competition so it was harder to win a high number of games...

Signifying more competioin? or more mediocrity? I believe if you go back and look at the East v. West records, you will see that it is more likely the latter than the former.

Look, if you have been following the NBA closely, the WC playoffs have always been loaded, dating back to the days of the showtime Lakers. The East? not so much. The West didn't get so much stronger overnight.
