What do you guys think is the easiest/quickest major to get a degree in? I've had 100 hours of school completed and have been dicking around for the past couple years because I can't nail down a major I really want. Now I've decided to simply give up and graduate with whatever is easiest. I've completed all of the core stuff. The extra credits are some lower level business and psychology courses, but I'm still not close to any particular degree so it doesn't matter. Any recommendations? I tried talking to a counselor but they kept trying to "help" me find something I liked. What I'd "like" is to be done with freakin' school already.
I think it is more about the professors and classes you take, rather than the degree you go for. Although everyone will likely agree that physics or engineering will never qualify as easy.
It's to your benefit to major in something that will prepare you for a career. Doing something like Art History or General Studies won't land you a job post graduation in this market.
Easiest degree will be something you are naturally good at. I thought a Business major was the easiest, but then kids I knew who were Natural Science thought those were some of the toughest classes. Its all relative to what your level of interest is and your natural inclination toward those subjects. If you are interested in a subject, you will grasp it easier and the material will be very easy.
Sounds like college wasn't for you. Nothing wrong with that because college isn't for everyone. You should have just saved your money if you're just looking for the easiest major just to graduate. I believe you shouldn't start going to college unless you really know what you want to do. That way you don't waste time and money trying to figure out what you want. These days kids are coming out with worthless degrees that can't buy you a cup of coffee, while still having to pay off student loans. But everyone is different so hopefully you'll find your way.
College student athletes are usually enrolled in the easiest degree, especially the football players. It usually is Sociology.
Take a look at what all the football and basketball players "major" in (other than their sport, obviously).
I know someone who graduated at UH with a general studies degree in 5 years. it was safe to say he was known as a slacker. (understatement)
The easiest degree is often the most worthless. The best compromise between attainability and value is probably Accounting, Pharmacy or Computer Science.
What school do you go to? Look into Multidisciplinary studies if it's available. They basically take what you have and make a major out of it. All you'll lack are electives, which can be filled with Clep and Dsst tests if your college accepts them.
It will probably be worthwhile to go with a major that will actually help you land a job, even if it takes an extra semester or two. Otherwise you'll probably be sitting at home looking for a job longer than it would have taken you to get a worthwhile degree (or working a job that will constantly have you ask yourself why you went to college) Marketing is a fairly easy degree, though...and it opens you up to a lot of different places of work, but not necessarily a specialized job.
History has to be the most useless major available. At the university that I work at, there was an opening for a history professor for which there were over 160 applicants with a phD. All for one position. Talk about saturated.
I share the same problem (though I recently settled to be an education major). Still kind of unsure if that's what I really wanna do for the rest of my life...seems like sociology is one of the "easier" majors.
