Well it was something. 3:53 in the AM and it woke me up. Must have gone on for about 10 seconds. It wasn't damaging, but it was an experience. You wake up and feel the walls vibrating pretty loudly for 10-15 seconds. Earthquake was my first thought.

It was either that or the local BF Goodrich plant blowing up :D.

I actually read somewhere a couple years ago that earthquakes were not uncommon in this area about 100-150 years ago.

It was substantial, but luckily no injuries or significant structural damage. I guess it wasn't big enough for after shocks.

It's what woke me up this morning. I was awaken a couple of minutes before 5:00am EST by a buzzing noise as it sounded like a electric generator – then came the jolt that shook the house – then the sound faded away – very weird. At first I thought – what kind of government experiment were we just subject too? Turned on the news this morning to find out it was an earthquake...Or so they say... ;)

I was in an earthquake in San Francisco for our honeymoon – yes the earth shoot on our honeymoon – but that one was more of a rolling.

That was the first thing that people asked me this morning when I got to work, "Did you hear the earthquake early this morning?"

My response was "There was an earthquake?"

Maybe the reason I never heard it was that I got less than 6 hours of sleep last night (by my own choosing).

4.9? Pathetic. Why even bother calling it an earthquake? If it didn't cause a billion dollars in damage, it wasn't an earthquake.

When the New Madrid fault moves in a big way again, then we'll be talking about earthquakes in the Midwest.

Now the only natural disaster you may have missed is a volcanic eruption. I think that's the only one I haven't experienced, not planning on tempting fate, either.
