Could possibly be a tad bit early on this. However, here are my predictions, without even seeing the movies: Best Picture: Catch Me If You Can Best Actor: Eminem (8 Mile) Best Actress: Salma Hayek (Frida)
Hey RM95, are you serious about Eminem? I have heard nothing but great things about his acting ability but is his role really worthy of an Oscar?
I dunno. Off the top of my head, I couldn't think of anyone else. Maybe Jack Nicholson in About Schmidt. I also think that Kevin Kline looks like he'll be great in The Emperor's Club. As for the actress, I haven't seen Frida yet, I'm just going on buzz. However, if I had to pick personally, I'd say Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven...a great movie.
1) I know this is a ridiculous question, but what won Best Picture last year? It wasn't Training Day, was it? I know I wanted TLOTR to win, but I seem to remember being disappointed... 2) If Salma Hayek wins, will this be yet another exaplme of the current trend of Hot Sex Symbol Actress Goes Topless In A Serious Role, and Suddenly Gets Taken Seriously? ( I have heard Hayek is nude a fair amount in Frida...) 3) I have heard mediocre revies about Eminem...most positive ones have been qualified with things like " ..for a rapper. or ...for a newcomer. etc...
A Beautiful Mind won last year. Hopefully, if Hayek wins, it'll start a hot actress sharing a kiss with another hot actress (Judd) phenomenon.
Eminem should be at least nominated. Two Towers hopefully will come off like Empire Strikes Back did for Star Wars.
I have yet to see even a decent movie this entire year. I predict I won't watch the Oscars and that only crap will win.
My guesses 1.) My Big Fat Greek Wedding will be nominated for Best Picture 2.) Gangs of New York will win best picture 3.) Nicholas Cage will win best actor for Adaptation 4.) Julianne Moore will win best actress for Far From Heaven 5.) Daniel Day-Lewis will win best supporting actor for Gangs of New York (I can just tell from the previews he's going to be awesome in this movie. Plus, supporting actor awards often go to "bad guys"). 6.) Nicole Kidman will win best supporting actress for Hours. (If she can make the audience believe she's ugly, then she HAS to win!)
If Tom Hanks can be considered "supporting" in Catch Me If You Can, I can see him winning. Good call on Nicolas Cage, that movie looks great.
Best supporting male actor: Robin Williams - "Insomina" Best actor: Robin Williams - "One Hour Photo" He's taking it all this year! No really, I think he has a good chance at least making a few actor sweat. In each of the two movies that he was in, he preformed above and beyond.
"I'd like to double her entendre." Looks pretty interesting, but I will always hate DiCraprio for being in The Titanic which people liked.
