"Early Cheat Sheet for Draft Day" All teams have a list of their choice of draft picks at each of the spots, and have them ranked in order of importance. This is an attempt to duplicate that "wish list". A. Availability and needs are the parameters of each team's selection. B. Each team is represented by a prioritized list of four players, listed in order of first choice if available, to fourth choice if available. C. Availability of individual players is based on previous selections. D. Each player is repeated only four times, until it is assumed he has been chosen. E. Trades and swaps prior to June 28th not withstanding. F. Note: Most likely choices are highlighted in bold for the first ten selections. These are not etched in stone, and that's what makes Draft Day interesting! Example: Pick # 5 … Orlando's list of their priorities shows they would like Mihm as their first choice, if he is not available they would choose Pryzbilla, if he is not available they would pick Miller, and finally if all others are not available they would choose Miles. Note: they could not choose Martin or Swift as they had been repeated four times previously and in all particality have been chosen. 1.NJN Martin, Mihm, Swift, Fizer 2.VAN Swift, Martin, Mihm, Fizer 3.LAC Swift, Martin, Fizer, Alexander 4.CHI Mihm, Martin, Swift, Pryzbilla 5.ORL Mihm, Pryzbilla, Miller, Miles 6.ATL Miller, Pryzbilla, Alexander, Miles 7.CHI Pryzbilla, Fizer, Miles, Barkley 8.CLV Tsaklidis, Miller, Miles, Alexander 9.HOU Miller, Miles, Moiso, Johnson 10.ORL Peterson, Tsaklidis, Johnson, Oyedeij 11.BOS Oyedeij, Barkley, Richardson, Peterson 12.DAL Oyedeij, Tsaklidis, Moiso, Johnson 13.ORL Peterson Tsaklidis, Johnson, Oyedeij 14.DET Moiso, Barkley, Cleaves, Peterson 15.MIL Moiso, E.Thomas, Samake, Richardson 16.SAC Samake, Carrawell, Barkley, Richardson 17.SEA Samake, Richardson, Brown, Thomas 18.LAC Cleaves, Dooling, Redd, Hightower 19.CHR Carrawell, Samake, Mottolo, Brown 20.PHL Brown, Carrawell, Mason, Mottolo 21.TOR Brown, Dooling, Cleaves, AJ Guyton 22.NYC Cleaves, Carrawell, Dooling, N'Diaye 23.UTA Mottolo, Redd, Hightower, N'Diaye 24.CHI Redd, Dooling, Mottolo, Collier 25.PHX N'Diaye, Redd, Porter, AJ Guyton 26.UTA Hightower, N'Diaye, Stevenson, Porter 27.IND Hightower, Mason, Harvey, Porter 28.POR Harvey, Porter, Mason, S Penn 29.LAL Collier, Harvey, Kapono, Rush ------------------
Very intersting theories, though I would have Houston picking Johnson, as I think we need someone versitile and long limbed to match up with big guards like Kobe. I can not wait for the draft. Good post, Olive. DaDakota ------------------

good to bring this back. I told you its a sign we're drafting Moiso . ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better.
Oh sure, now everyone replies to this...7 days ago, nobody cared. I, personally, remember reading this and thinking, "that sure is a lot of effort for draft predicting." Bob: that made me laugh, but we need to tone it down now. Anyone who does not know by now is mentally ill. ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000 [This message has been edited by rimbaud (edited June 21, 2000).]
Not to mention that he could have his reasons, so Oiel...it is good to have you with us. Nice post, but man, how the HECK does anyone find time to do all that? Someone once told me that making games was a cushy job....I could strangle that bast..d. DaDakota "Starlancer is out, go buy it, on to Conquest Frontier Wars...out in November...now what does my family look like again?? ------------------
Love it Bob, i want more, make it flash and change colours aswell. oeilpere guru Anyway in your mind we could do a draft day trade with Boston, maybe we draft who they want and they draft Moiso for us and then we trade and get Moiso and Forston and give them who they want and drew or williams or rodgers, as i would love to come away from the draft with Moiso and another glass eater in Forston. Smeg ------------------ Mango is the Smeg of Bizarro World
That is a fantastic trade idea that I would do in a second. Unfortunately, word for Clutch is that Moiso's stock is privately on the rise. Will he be there at 12?? ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
(Boston has #11) Anyway, if we picked say Dermarr, and Alexander was on the board, and assuming the Magic take Fizer (if he drops) or Pryzbilla/Mihm at #5, they'd likely take Alexander at #10. Is Dermarr worth Moiso and Fortson? Close call. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better.
The Quandry (IN MY OPINION) The Choices: The Draft Route The focus appears to be that if the Rockets cannot move up without decimating a roster that RT is presently comfortable with .... (and, that unfortunately for me, may include Walt William's sorry arse) .... then, their fallback position will be to pick up another 1-10 pick by next Wednesday to fill the holes at both PF and SF. I cannot help thinking that although RT/CD/Larry/Jim/Lindsey/etc ... truly want Swift and all the other guys on their wish list, they realistically have set their sights on the most logical alternatives ... Moiso and DerMarr Johnson. Moiso's 7 foot frame is very inticing for a power-forward-hungry team (as a good friend reminded me recently). Dermarr's 2/3 swingman role is very attractive to RT's overall plan of having multiple choices for gametime matchups. They need and would like both these guys.If they are available. And that may be the deeper problem. There is a possibility that neither guy may be available at #9. Moiso's stock is rising everyday and DerMarr versatility is blowing people away at his showings. The FA Route That's why all this talk about FA keeps coming up, a week before the draft. If they take Moiso, will there be a comparable 2/3 Free Agent available? If they take DerMarr will there be a comparable PF Free Agent available? The new CBA has effectively slowed the FA acquisition route and frankly, despite all the rumblings, most of these Free Agents will probably end up back with their old teams next season. BUT...... Some Surprises To Make Life Interesting ........ 1. Again, realistically it is doubtful the needs of all the teams that pick before us have changed that drastically and so some predicatability of the positions they are selecting for will exist. However, some pre-draft player projections are going to get leapfrogged over and this will cause an uproar when their pre-drafted spot comes and they are NOT picked. I see Fizer on that bubble and dropping. I see guys like Collier, Crawford, Porter going a lot earlier than where established mock drafts have placed them. 2. Paradoxically, guys like Courtney Alexander (pprojected from #4 to # 8) may just end up closer to the #10 spot simply because the availabilty of some players will make teams choose someone that they never thought would be available. EX: If you are Atlanta and Mihm was passed by Chicago because Krause had an opportunity to get Miles early, or Jerry has fallen in love with DerMarr's game, then the Hawks jump all over Mihm and Courtney falls another spot. 3. The most interesting thing about this year's Draft Day will be the backroom trades done prior to the picks. Certainly "Cloak and Dagger Draft Day Deals" are present every year, except this new CBA makes the Draft a more viable option to build from than the FA market. The CBA has given the teams a better opportunity to draft a player and predictably keep him. So I predict that movements within the draft itself have become more crucial. More well thought out some how.we may see some draft moves that are strange. What the hell is Chicago drafting a power forward for? Why did Houston take a center with their #9 pick? That sort of thing. EX: Watch Dallas make a move to ensure they get Oyedeji.( Houston Rocket's #9 chooses OO!!!!! What? Did we just get another African center????? No we just got Finley, is what we just got!) It promises to be fun, no matter what! ------------------
I know it was just an example, but just think if we could pull that off. Nellie's done some crazy things before, and you know his love for foreign players. It's been said everywhere that he wants another lottery pick-- but his only two players that could draw a lottery pick would be Finley and Nowitzki. Would he actually be stupid enough to do it? I've been wondering that a lot the last couple of weeks... By the way, welcome back. ------------------ Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.
Just imagine the sheer athleticism and talent a team of Cato-Moiso-Dermarr-Shandon-Francis with Cuttino off the bench would have.....scary. pere-Don't forget Moiso is left handed. You see everyone, if we get Moiso there's another reason for Mobley to stay. Right now, he's the only lefty on the team. It gets lonely being the only person who can dunk with the left hand. Moiso would be Cuttino's companion. Then if we get Dermarr, Steve's got a DC companion. What that means is that Shandon and Cato will be companions, and Shandon will rub off a good work ethic on Cato. by the way-What's your take on Croshere? ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better.
Kenny Thomas is left handed, Cuttino is left handed, Moochie Norris is left handed, Carlos Rogers is left handed. That is a lot of left handed players on one team DaDakota ------------------
If I'm not mistaken, KT and Carlos are right handed. ------------------ Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.
*sigh* I wish there was a way to get both Moiso AND DJ w/o giving up too much. That would make for one hell of a future team. I swear I am so freaking greedy. ------------------ No signature for you!
<---agrees with Crisco. DaDakota-Don't try to push those people off on me, Cuttino, and Moiso. Moochie might be, but KT and Carlos aren't. Lefties tend to be the oversized guys for their position-Odom/Kukoc at SF, Ned Flanders, Lafrenz as a PF (he's not truly a center), Rose as a PG. We don't want undersized unathletic guys like KT. DaDakota-Here's a million dollar idea for your company, make something for left handed people. Like a game controller. Maybe you can help bring Odom or Rose to Houston. If you design it, they will come. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. [This message has been edited by NIKEstrad (edited June 22, 2000).]
Have you heard anything about a possible trade with LA? I know we can't get Swift in this draft, since NJ and Vancouver will probably keep their picks and take Martin and Swift. Bummer. But if we could trade for LAC's #3, things could get quite interesting. Would they take Drew, KT, our #9 and Detroit pick for their #3 and Kandi? That would give them 2 immediate starters and the ability to pick up Alexander or Crawford for their SG at #9, and Samake, Brown or N'Diaye for a center with their #18 pick, and a possible lottery pick in the next couple years. To be honest, if we were able to get that pick, I'd trade it down to Chicago or Orlando, so we got 2 lottery players, take Prysbilla with one of them, trade him to Portland for Oneal and their #28. We could get one of the SFs of Miles, Miller or Johnson with the other lottery pick, then take Rush, Porter or N'Diaye with the #28. We could end up with a strong upgrade at both forward spots and depth at center. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
Sherlock-Why would Chicago trade #4 and #7 for #3? ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better.
The only reasoning I could see is that perhaps the Clippers could bluff the Bulls into believing that they would take Miles so the Bulls would trade up. Or if it was the Rockets they'd know we'd take Miles so they might try. ------------------ Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.
