Why he gave the job to Castillo will be a mystery Reid carries to the grave. I brought it up last year and I think Lil Pun tried to explain.
There is definitely a skeleton in a closet there, I wouldn't make any assumptions, but it could have had to do with his son who passed away. That move just made zero football sense.
Is that just conjecture on your part, or have you actually heard a rumor or something?? I just thought it was because Castillo was close to Reid, so maybe Reid thought he would do his friend a favor.
this is probably the biggest problem. Vick is continually turning the ball over and when your defense has to get on the field for so many turnovers, it has a negative impact. It seemed like their defense this year was much better compared to last years but put any defense in their position and I think they would break as well. Way too many turnovers and Reid is just too danged stubborn to run the ball. Yeah he'll say we need to run the ball when they lose, and they do run the ball the next game, but after that, it's back to Vick dropping back passing and getting destroyed. Philly is almost Dallas like - all the talent in the world w/o good coaching. Reid is a great coach and all but maybe his time has come?
Yeah, Reid is getting heat for this. "Maybe (t)he(y) should fire the guy who hired the guy in the first place." "I guess all Vick's turnovers & Eagles lack of scoring are Juan Castillo's fault. Sacrificial Lamb." "Eagles: 31st ranked scoring offense. 13th ranked scoring defense. So they fired the defensive coordinator." "Eagles fire Juan Castillo for throwing interceptions constantly and for giving the ball away a total of 17 times this seas....oh wait." "Eagles offense a turnover, pass-happy, inefficient machine but Andy Reid fires D coordinator. OK."
Wack the hispanic on hispanic heritage month. Was reid hiding in the backseat of castillo's car with a couple bags of cannolis? that's just not right, man. I hope that kris kringle wannabe gets everything that's coming to him! Seriously though, prior to the season, Eagles owner made comments of coming down with an iron fist if expectations were not met. Lurie must be calling reid every minute.
3The defensive unit appears to be OK when you look at rankings but they have not registered a sack in three games, have generated few turnovers and allowed to comebacks over the last two weeks. The blown 10 point lead was a stark reminder of how bad they were last season. There are some rumblings that the defense did not like Juan's adjustments in the second half after they did well containing Megatron in the first half. Even so, it seems the offense (specifically Vick) is generating more turnovers than points themselves and putting the defense in a tough position to cover them. I think Vick would actually be OK if they changed up their freaking playcalling. Nothing screams that more than their first series of OT with the Lions. Your offensive line has had a terrible time blocking and your quarterback has a penchant for turning it over or taking a sack so you decide to call three pass plays which result in 2 sacks and an incomplete causing the punter to punt from the back of their end zone setting them up with great field position for the win. Run the damn ball! The Eagles are 10-1 when McCoy gets 20+ rushes. Sunday, he had 14 and although he never really seemed to get it going, he is the type of player who can make something magical happen every single time he gets the ball. The firing seems like a desperate move because Reid knows he is in the hot seat and I'm sure that is what it is. I think the offense is more of a problem than the defense is, at least this season.
I don't know what to expect now but honestly and I think Lynch did a good job at explaining this today is that the Eagles still are not out of it in their own division.
