Here is a huge newbie question I am having with e-bay.

For the first time ever, I bought a couple of things on e-bay. For some reason the charges aren't going through right away even though I have the paypal direct payment option activated.

The first item I bought on May 30th and the charge went through on June 5th. The second item I bought yesterday. The charge still hasn't gone through yet.

Is that normal? Is there no way to make it happen faster?

heh, its normal. I usually pay anything through paypal with my checking account (2 days at most) which would get out of my account faster rather than paying with my check card (3-4 days at most) via paypal.

Maybe if you put some money in your Paypal account.......it wouldnt have to go through your credit card company or bank or wherever its coming from. I always have some in my account from chocolate orders so when i buy something on ebay....its paid instantly because its coming straight from my account and not my debit card.

I've been through some absolute nightmares with paypal/ebay recently.

So much so that I had to close my bank account, cancel credit cards, etc...

    Don't ever use paypal.. ever..

Two signs you're an eBay newbie:
You misspell eBay on a forum thread title.
You misspell eBay twice on the thread.

i'm getting ready to put something on ebay.

this would be my first item for auction.

I don't want to say what it is. I'm thinking this item would go for something like $250+.

I HOPE IT GOES FOR MORE.

Get on a buddy's account and bid higher for your item. Works for me...

 that's illegal, yo. Are you honestly admitting this, or are you kidding? I didn't see a " ;) " or a " " so I am assuming you're serious. If so, then I got :( . Then I got  .

I believe that if your account which you direct funds to PayPal is your credit card, the funds take longer to clear. If on the other hand, it's your bank account, the payment is instant

I have never had a problem with them at all. Been using both for a long time to buy and sell.

Yeah, ive been using ebay/paypal for 8 years.. but I ran into an enormous problem recently, and its just not worth it.

Paypal is basically the least secure way to send money, ever. DO NOT USE IT
