Over the last 2 seasons, Eric Gordon has had just 19 games when he has shot 5 or less three point attempts. The Rockets are 15-4 in those games. That's a 79% winning clip. On the flip side, over the last 2 seasons when Gordon shoots more than 5 three point attempts in games he has played, the Rockets' record is 65-31 (68% winning clip). So, is it a coincidence that the Rockets are better when EG shoots less threes and is attacking the paint? I wonder what our record would end up being if he shot only 5 or less threes per game for the remainder of the season. Just attack the paint instead. Hmmmm.
Wow. Interesting. You telling me a bad shooter taking more shots leads to worse production? Wish we had a coach that cared to recognize stuff like this, not just say "keep shooting"...
I mean, I’ve said my peace about Gordon. No such thing as 6’4” forwards. The guy has to play better. I’ll let someone else take the heat for criticizing Polly Preciouspants.
Great question. So let's look at just this season [I'm too lazy to go back again & look at the 10 games from last year (8-2)]... We are 7-2 when Gordon shoots 5 or less threes. In those 9 games, Gordon shot... 40 three pointers (4.4 per game) 61 two pointers (6.8 per game)
I’m glad you pointed this out lol. His shot is broken. He had an elite shooting season his first year with us. He regressed last year and now he’s straight up garbage. Almost wish we sold high and kept Lou Will.
I'm not sure what the purpose this stat serves. We were an overall 79% team last year for all games, and we are 58% this year. But the big thing about the stats is if you just run last year: Rockets were 50-13 when EGo shot > 5. That's 79% Rockets were 8-2 when EGo shot < 5. That's 80% So, maybe just stick to saying this (theoretically) is an issue for *this year* only. Sry to bust your bubble that it's a two-year trend.
i could be mistaken... but just off the top of my head, i would assume EGo shoots more when we have injuries and he needs to take on a bigger role... vs when we're healthy he's more of a complimentary piece...
what's mind boggling to me is that Gordon has all these pads and everything all over his legs and what not, yet all he does is stand 5 feet behind the arc and launches bricks...and any time he does dribble, it's a turnover. so why all the padding? not like you're driving the ball looking to dunk and get fouled...
Whenever EG gets the ball, it's just a dilemma.. A) Dribble ball off his own feet and turn the ball over? B) Take a 3 point brick? C) Get to the rim but misses the layup while yelling out loud?
