I'm wanting to get a new vac for the home. Our Dirt Devil of almost 10 years is on it's last leg. My wife is interested in the Dyson brand...probably because of the cool commercials and hype. But they are over $350...yikes!! So after doing some research today, I came across what seems to be as good if not better than the Dyson...the Bissell 37601 removeable Turbo vac. It's around $150...and the reviews are really positive. Anyone have any feedback or suggestions on this. I'm (maybe) willing to fork out $350 if it is indeed worth it...but that still is a little steep. Thanks brethren!!!!
If you think that $350 is steap, don't ever have a Rainbow or Kirby demonstration. You're head may explode.
My two cents: The only times I think a Dyson is worth it is if you have a large number of hairy shedding pets. Even then, the lower cost models are just as good IMO.
I have a dyson that I got off woot for 300. I like it but the only thing that is really cool about it is that it does not have a fliter and disposing the dirt after vacuuming is easy. It does not clean any better than a regular vacuum.
just bought one for my parents on friday. i got the dc17 animal. really good suction though i wonder if it's a lil too strong. the attachments are not bad either.
I've got 2 dogs, so we needed a pretty good vacuum cleaner. Bought a Dyson 4 years ago, and I think it's worth every penny we spent. You can always pick them up at Bed Bath & Beyond with one of their 20% off coupons which they take even after they expire.
I remember my mom sitting for a demo for one of those back when I was in high school. How much do they run?
when they came to my house, it was in the thousands......stupid girl was there for like 2 hours, but i got a nice clean couch out of it!
Yes it is. We have pets and it is amazing how much hair and dust you pick up without even knowing it. With that being said we bought the"animal" model with the hair removing attachment. Honestly, it just plain works and works well. We are happy with our DC17.
you can turn off the rotating part so it i will only be suction for really fine rugs or for bare floors.
Why would a vac cost thousands?? Jeez!!! Anyway I don't have a dog but a cat (short heaired tabby). He sheds..but not like a dog. My house is all tiles, but the 3 bedrooms are carpeted and we have a large throw carpet in the living room. So I wonder if a Dyson is overkill for my house anyway?
'Cuz it's the best EVAH! lol. I researched vacuums before buying one because most females recommended Dyson, most guys recommended buying beer instead. If you read about these "high end" vacuums, you'll see they have their fans... and those fans are insanely loyal. I mean, the vacuum could explode and kill their dog and they'd still buy another one thinking it was the dog's fault. Kirby, Rainbow, Dyson, etc. all at some time or another were considered among "the best". I got a Bissel. Oddly enough, it's the same Bissell model you mentioned. It's worked fine for the past 4 years. I don't have pets, though. People have survived with po ol' Hoovers forever and they probably will continue to survive. I watched a documentary about the inventor of the Dyson and must admit, the guy is impressive - I almost bought a Dyson after watching that simply because I love the way he thinks "outside the box" (to use an overused phrase). Maybe when my Bissel dies, I'll get a Dyson.... btw, the $350 Dyson is the smaller one, right? I don't remember.
If you flipped every Dyson vac in the world upside down and then turned them all on - they would suck up the earth's atmosphere and kill all life on the planet.
