When: This Saturday, April 19th, 9:30 PM. Where: Home Depot Center, Carson, California Media: TV: Channel 55, Radio: 790 AM (English), 850 AM (EspaƱol) This is a big game. It's our first game against David Beckham's Galaxy. We've had a week off since the KC game, are healthy, and have no suspensions. If there was ever a statement game, this is it. By no means am I saying that LA is a good team - they lost 4-0 to Colorado in the opener, beat San Jose 2-0 at home, and lost to Toronto FC last week 3-2 in stoppage time - but they are still considered one of MLS' main clubs. We've looked genuinely terrible in different areas in every game. Against FC Dallas, our defense and goal keeping were off; In KC, our defense (and Tony Caig!) came up, but our offense was quiet. This week needs to be a complete effort. Does anybody know the status of Pat Onstad for the game? I know this thread is getting started a tad early, but I wanted to make sure that I didn't forget to create it.
I think he's out another week. I couldn't hear too well, but on Glenn Davis' show last night I think Waibel said he and Pat would be back in a couple of weeks. And hopefully Robinson doesn't get a suspension for his elbow in the KC game.
I heard one of the commentators say something about Ngwenya coming back cause he's not doing all that well in Austria. That would be great but I'd really rather have Jaqua back since we kinda replaced Ngwenya with Caraccio. Anyone know when he will be back in orange?
IMO, it would give Caraccio more time to get comfortable. Having Ngwenya back would be a huge lift to the team.
dumbartonbass, perhaps next time the thread should contain an "@" sign for "Dynamo @ LA Galaxy", not "vs.", as this latter denotes LA will come to Houston instead. Duck Bavid Feckham. He'll get injured again this season.
Thanks for the advice - I knew something looked funny. I've not heard any news on Ngwenya, but that's very interesting. I felt his loss was a lot worse than Jacqua. Sure, Nate gave us size, but Ngwenya was much more creative with the ball and had greater control. Caraccio is still adjusting to the pace of the US game and I feel that having Ngwenya back could really help. I'll take this up with the folks over at Big Soccer. To celebrate any rumors of Joseph Ngwenya returning, here is a video of his mind-blowing goal against Chicago last year:
I think his contract is up in May so if he comes back it won't be too long from now. He's only played part of one game there, and if he can't get minutes at one of the worst teams in Austria I doubt he'd get picked up by any other European teams. And Cameron could turn out to be a good Jaqua replacement, he's got the size and ball skills. If he keeps getting minutes he could develop nicely.
Robinson is out 3 weeks for his elbow on Wahl. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/sports/5706105.html
i was at home depot center for this game last night, my first professional soccer game on my life. it was more fun than a basketball game by far...
Good to hear that. Not everyone has a four goal match as their first in-person pro soccer match to watch. You know you felt good about the fact you only spent two hours at the game and you were done. Thats a fantastic thing about soccer imho, when you go to a game, you know exactly how long you will be there for, about two hours. Baseball, you gotta go with however many innings it takes to get a win, am.football and basketball have timeouts that extend it a bit too much. Other than that all the above sports are great and I'm glad you had a great experience.
