Ching, Clark, Holden and Cameron Called in to USA Camp, the first three are no brainers, but Cameron is a bit surprising. He deserves it though, he played well for us all over the field, I just didn't know he'd gotten that much recognition. http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_12189699.html Boswell is in Europe looking to sign for somebody there and could end up on the team that Ngwenya went to. http://www.soccer365.com/americans_abroad/story_301208160338.php
The Dynamo have drafted Daniel Cruz from UNLV. He's a Generation Adidas player so he won't count against the cap. http://unlvrebels.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/cruz_daniel00.html http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2009/01/danny-cruz-signs-generation-adidas-deal.html
the dynamo didn't offer enough to that guys club (from what I heard the mexican team never took the dynamo's offer seriously to begin with) so they wouldn't loan him out.
With their other pick in the draft the Dynamo took Marcus Tracy, who just signed a contract in Denmark. They're hoping things don't work out and we'll have his rights if he decides to play in MLS. Not much else you can do with one of the very last picks in the draft.
Here's the upcoming schedule: 02/02 - First day of practice 02/06 - @ FC Dallas (Frisco TX) 02/09 - vs. FC Dallas 02/12 - @ LA Galaxy (Carson CA) 02/15 - @ SJ Earthquakes (3 p.m. CT; Central Coast Showcase, San Luis Obispo CA) 02/18 - Hammarby (Carson CA) 02/24 - vs. Atlante (9 p.m. CT; CCL quarterfinals, Robertson Stadium) 02/28 - vs. Montreal Impact 03/03 - @ Atlante (9 p.m. CT; CCL quarterfinals, Cancun MEX) 03/07 - @ Austin Aztex (7:30 p.m. CT, Austin TX) 03/11 - vs. SMU 03/14 - vs. TBA 03/16 - Dynamo Charities Countdown to Kickoff luncheon 03/17-19 - possible dates for CCL semifinal first leg if Houston qualifies 03/21 - vs. Columbus Crew (7 p.m. CT, MLS First Kick 2009, Robertson Stadium)
I'm hoping to be at the game against the Aztex. For those that don't know, this is their first season in the USL first division and their owner also owns part of Stoke City in the EPL. I have some friends that play for them. Should be a fun game. New England and Columbus are coming here to play the Aztex as well.
The Dynamo have signed Tally Hall as a backup keeper, he went to Denmark after college where he didn't get many first team minutes and is now returning to the US. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/soc/6225712.html
Boswell has re-signed with the Dynamo and Ianni has been traded to Seattle. This is huge, Boswell was a rock in the back for us last year. http://www.glenndavissoccer.com/2009/01/26/boswell-re-signs-with-the-dynamo/
^ Great news. I am getting a little concerned that there seemingly seems to be no movement towards getting a competent forward. They cannot expect Ching to be around much with the number of WC qualifiers this season.
Chris Canetti, the COO, posted this on mydynamo.net They're looking and realize it's a position that they need to fill, hopefully they can get somebody before the Atlante game.
The prospect mentioned in the post above has been revealed, the Dynamo just signed US U-20 striker Felix Garcia. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2009/01/dynamo-sign-felix-garcia.html#more Here's an article that was written almost a year ago about Garcia. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=512344&root=us&cc=5901
Good signing. I'm guessing Mexico had nothing to do with this...? No, I kid, y'all. He seems to be a good fit. Go DYNAMO!
Well, it's a start. Hopefully this kid matures into the real deal. Sounds like he has the confidence to be a good striker. We'll just have to see how he holds up being only 165 lbs.
In case anyone missed it, it sounded like Dom was hinting at the return of Ngwenya on Glenn's show. Maybe this was what Canetti was referring to....
That would be fantastic. I've heard that Ngwenya's European vacation hasn't turned out exactly the way he wanted it to. If Joe came back, that could very well answer our crisis at forward.
