I was at tonight's game and it was awesome! Over 25,000 people, the atmostphere was great. Imagine that, a crowd that actually cheers (take notes rockets fans who make toyota center feel like a morgue!!!). There were chants of Dynamo, of Houston, of Ole ole ole...ole....oleeeee, and people were off the seats a whole lot of the game. I don't think they could have scripted it any better for an opener (5-2!!!). The weather was amazing, and the field (grass) was perfect for soccer. I even saw Olive Luck walking around and sitting amongs the fans next to our section.

There were a few problems I noticed:
    1. Before the game, the lines for tickets and will call were enormous and most people were just standing without any movement. Did they end up letting people in for free? I heard some people behind us say they let them in free. 2. The parking lots were a mess after the game. Luckily we parked close to the Mcdonald's and could get out faster than everyone else.
    3. My bro wanted to buy something to eat and they said he had to buy tickets to take to the consecions. That seemed ridiculous to me. Is this a freaking carnival?

Those are issues that could be expected though for a first time event.

Overall I had a great time and look forward to the game on Saturday night! Man did you guys see the ladies at tonight's game! Wow, there were so many fine ladies!

I guess I am officially a Dynamo fan and will actually give the MLS respect now. Props to the organization, first class all around!

    How were your experiences?

I posted in the fsn thread. The game was a lot of fun, with everyone being so into it. And yea tons of people got in for free. The game had been going on for 30 minutes or so, so we got free entrance.

We got there a little late, but had a blast. We had tickets in hand so there was no ticket problem for us. There was a great vibe in the place, lots of kids having a good time, and they had a "red alert" type section that kept the crowd fired up. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and the women in attendance were pretty hot too. :D

I wish the Dynamo luck, that was fun.

The "red alert" type section is called the Texian Army. We'll be at all of the games in section 213 (and hopefully expanding soon) so if you want to come join us feel free to.

Here's the website, it's still kind new and isn't fully functional yet though.

And the game was a blast, the fans showed up, the players showed up and a great time was had by all. There was a good showing by the Hispanic crowd also, I didn't think there would be but was proven wrong tonight.

Apparently Ticketmaster had some computer malfunction and that was part of the cause for the lines.

The game was great and I really enjoyed watching it, on TV though. If only Rockets fans could be this exited. I plan on going next week, I just hope it's the same as tonights game.

Here's a video on the first game. It got it of Sports Sunday on Ch. 2. The video has highlights, an interview with Brian Ching and some fans.

It does not seem that first class to me.

No credit cards allowed in the stadium and then no atm's to get money.

People then cant get into the stadium because there is not enough help at the ticket office.

Also not enough workers at the concession stands.

Look I am gonna support this team because I support Houston but come on from day one these guys have not had there **** together.

We had a "fan vote" to determine the team name and you have people like myself who then took time to vote and follow all the teams moves leading up too the anoncement. Now I did vote for 1836 but I would of been cool with any name they chose.

Well it's name day and they pick Houston 1836 I am pumped up, great name and great logo! I still think they kind of messed up not having uniforms too (with the logo) but it's cool I am excited and I go buy a t-shirt.

Well yall know the story after that all the bs about the name change and here we are today.

I hope they learn from their mistakes and I also hope the fans give them a free pass (even though I am pissed off I will) since anything can be fixed.

Lets give them credit for getting games on tv in a short time and also like the name change or not (I don't) they did come up with a decent logo and pretty good uniforms in a pinch.

I just wan't all our teams to be first class and in my opinion they are off to a rough start but with a good team and a smart guy like Luck I think the fan experiance will grow over the course of the season.

Anyway Go Houston (I prefer 1836) Dynamo!

    Thankyou for posting that Julio.

I missed the game. Are they showing them on FSSW?

Was that you they interviewed? The best part of your sign was the "Est. 1836". :)

Nope, no interviews for me. And we'll be keeping 1836 alive, the politicians were able to force the team to change but not us.

First and foremost, Major Props to Stack for hooking me up with 4 great tickets. I had a blast. Soccer is awesome. Very exciting. It was my first game, so I really don't understand rules to well, but hey, the atomsphere was great. Those guys are really great athletes. There was also lots of fine women there. Wow, just overall, had a great time. The only complaint I had was the parking BEFORE the game. The guys kept on selling parking tickets when the lot was full. So, we didn't have anywhere to park. We had to go around and park in the grass of the police section of the school. It wast the Last possible spot to park in and I had to squeeze in. It was very hectic and one of the reasons why I was a little late.

We were just to your left in section 216. The signs were great. There were ALOT of 1836 shirts in the crowd, myself included. I'm wearing my orange Dynamo today though. :)

JuLiO-R-, thanks for posting that on YouTube. I remember watchin Brian C's first national team cap and he scored. I think he scored in 3 of his 4 caps. Dude just has a nack for the goal.

texanskan, I understand your frustration but I think overall the game was awesome and couldn't have gotten off to a better start for a team coming into a new city. I think they will get those kinks straightened out. The crowd and atmosphere was amazing!

DrLudicrous, I was on the direct oposite side of your group. You guys were awesome, especially when you busted out the semi flares..ok...the lights. That was totally sweet!

It was a fantastic game and experience. I have season tickets in Section 221, Row D - so no problems for me with tickets. Great stuff! :D

    Yes, thanks for posting that.

Those are details that they will have to get worked out. I remember going to the first Texans preseason game and the traffic was terrible. We ended up having to park and walk about half a mile because the cars weren't moving. But they saw the problem and got it fixed, hopefully the Dynamo will do the same. And one way to miss some of the traffic and parking problems is to get there early and enjoy some pre-game tailgating. :)

Yes, those flares were awesome. After the second one the cops showed up and gave the guy a hard time though. Also, they wouldn't allow flagpoles in so we couldn't wave all the flags that were brought.

    1) How was the tailgating? What time to the lots open?

    2) Rig up a telescoping flagpole.

Looking forward to the next game.

I watched it on TV. I have never really gotten in to soccer, but I have to say that this team did this city proud in their first game.

The tailgating was good, we had a couple of kegs and hot dogs and sausages. It started around 4:00 and lasted until 5:45 or so and then after the game we went back to finish off the keg. We plan on starting them 2 hours before kickoff each game.

We'll get something done so we can get flags waving in there, for this game we just strung a bunch together and wave them over our heads.

Tailgating? I didn't know that was going to be going on. I definitely want to attend a few games this season. I should have gone Sunday, it looked great on TV. Looked like a good crowd there.

This sucked so bad for me...i had a good set of tickets that I could have gone and enjoyed but it had to fall on a day that i worked...normally i would have gotten off in time but we had scheduled a staff meeting and it was too late to change...man i really wanted to be there....from the highlights it looked to be a great game....
