I wonder if Houston and Anderson came up with the injury as an excuse to stop workouts for other teams. Anybody think Houston made a promise to him that they would buy some draft picks or trade down to get him?

No. Morey doesn't make promises. The benefit of MAYBE getting a player you like if he falls to you does not outweigh the risk that a better player slips to you but you can't take him due to the promise, or that you are hamstrung in making draft day trades. No promises.

Also, this topic was already posted in the Draft Forum.

I don't see Morey as the type of guy that would commit to such things, especially this far before the draft. He's too busy thinking about his million other options.

I didn't see this topic in the draft forum. I checked all threads created today.

No, I don't think they made a promise to him.

At some point you need to stop thinking that everything is an elaborate plan by Morey. Guy got injured. End of story. Jesus.

GMs don't make promises, at least not real one, to draftees. In a situation where 31 other teams can either directly or indirectly effect your choices, you'd have to be an idiot to lock yourself into a position where you have to follow through on a "promise" to someone who has yet to play a second on an NBA court. This is one of the great NBA myths.

There are only 29 other teams that can affect the outcome, where do the other 2 teams come from?

If I was a draft pick why would I trust anything coming out of a GMs mouth. Ever agent should show the video of rashard lewis on draft day to their clients.

So it begins, a guy gets injured when the Rockets even look at him.

Yup. They have to see how you handle injuries well or not.

GMs don't make promises? Tell that to Elgin Baylor, who promised to take Yaroslav Korolev with the 12th pick a few years ago. Despite several clearly better players falling to #12, the Clips held true to their promise and took Korolev. Dude was out of the league 2-3 years later.

    Ah, gotta love those Clips!
