What do you guys think of Dwight's performances in the preseason so far? I'm asking this because I feel he is underperforming. Yeah, I know it's the preseason bla bla bla but look a Harden avg 21 ppg. Sure we are also winning, but I still feel Dwight could do better even in the preseason. Look at these numbers: vs. Orl 8pt 4 rb 3 blk 2/6 vs. Ind at Taipei 10 pt 6 rb 2 blk 5/13 vs. Ind at Manila 9 pt 3 rb 1 blk 4/11 fg Vs. NO 19 pt 9 rb 1 blk 6/11 fg Dwight did what he usually did in the first game vs NO, but after that as you can see it hasn't been good for his standards. Defensively he's still been solid. As long as we keep winning it doesn't really matter, and I hope to see him return to his pre-2010 self by the start of the season/end of the preseason!
awwwww man here we go lol.... but you really wanna know why he looked so good the first game and felt comfortable ? I rather not go there....
We are not running our real offense. And two, his defensive presence makes his contract worth every penny. Moving on.
His post play has been meh. But I think he is working on moves more than playing how he would normally play. He does the same move every time he gets the ball. He faces up, jab steps, takes a dribble and spins, then goes up. It's the combination he's been working on with Hakeem. Plus, he has run hardly any pick and rolls, and he will get a lot of points off of those. His D has been great. Just his post ya has been meh. But like I said, I think he's trying to work on that move rather than mixing up a little bit like he normally would.
He's been excellent. He doesn't get the ball in the post quickly and people want to see him do some finesse spin move every time. He gets the job done and more. If he makes you meh then how do you think we're getting past the first round? To many DOH's out here
if he never made a shot, i'd still think he'd be completely worth it. all i want out of him is a top tier defender.
He's already affecting the shape of the defense around him - our shooters have had a ton of space. Take note of the simplest looking 3s -- Harden has the ball at the top of the key and makes a single pass to Garcia at the elbow 3 spot, where he finds himself open enough for his quick release due to the defense sagging. He's passing out of the post well, keep an eye on how our guys develop their knowledge of when to cut to the rim when he's in the post. Parsons had a great cut in the NOLA game I think it was... on the flip side, Beverley made a cut in the Magic game that ran an extra defender right into Dwight and caused an ugly shot attempt. The team as a whole needs to be better with their entry passes. Casspi couldn't make an entry pass to save his life in the Magic game, and Dwight often had his man sealed early just begging for a bounce pass that didn't come. I saw him basically coaching players on where to put it after multiple entry pass TOs. He missed a lot of shots during the Magic game, but I was seriously impressed with some of his moves. He got a lot of great shots off, they just rimmed out... one of which was a sweet shimmy spin that had Vucevic flailing. Maybe that's what he is, but I'd like to think jet lag and maybe some gotta-impress-new-fans-in-second-home-game pressure contributed to him missing some gimmes.
Maaaaan and yet ANOTHER thread about a player not dominating in pre-season. It will NEVER end...... It's basketball man. No player will do what you 'think' they should do every night. Players have off games, off weeks. And sometimes more. It's the first couple of pre-season games, glorified practices basically. Howard was brought in to be a impact player in the paint. On Defense and th boards first, scoring SECOND.
his limited offense tools don't help him at all. good defense strategy or bigger and stronger defender will mean trouble to him. defender can ignore him anywhere outside the block so his athletic advantage is disappeared if he is a focal point of rox offense. the best way to use him is P&R. any other ways should focus on how to draw defense attention away from him.
He looks like he's playing at about 75%. Not wise considering he isn't a veteran, he is in a new offense and on a new team. But he's not sweating it, and neither am I. Preseason games don't count.
don’t even explain yourself man, what I’ve realized if you make a statement in regards to (certain players) by questioning their performance, even if you say something positive that the player is doing in the same comment some people here will call it HATING or PLAYER ON FAN or PLAYER ON HATER. They will give you full list of excuses why the player had a bad game, like it’s not ok to admit the player had a bad game.
It takes a village to raise a child. IOW, he will be more effective with the help of those around him. You're right about one thing and that this is a PSS (pre-season sample size).
agree. opponents have to pay attention on him otherwise he would have fun day every time he steps on the court.
