Dwight Howard vs Golden State seems to be having the same turnover problems that Yao had (7 TOs). Throw in Dirk from last year playoffs, and I am pretty confident when I say Don Nelson just knows how to make dominant big men in the NBA uncomfortable.
Dirk, a dominant big man?? Are you kidding? Don Nelson, a mad scientist, in fact he was the one of the first coach(the other one i believe is Hubie Brown) to put a smaller player, Najera, to take Yao out of the game!
wow, your right. I don't post much in the dish, but it is infested with D howard threads. Sorry! This could prob be merged in one of those several threads.
I repeat: What a GREAT game. Stephen Jackson is just unconscious. Warriors by 4 with 2 1/2 left. These two teams are fun to watch.
You don't have to be a fan to respect what he's doing. Magic win. Dwight finishes with 18pts, 23rebs, 7 blks, 9to.
anybody see the game..that technical foul they called on dwight near the end of the fourth for either hanging on the rim or slapping the padding of the goal was pretty ridiculous..nonetheless magic still won (baron davis fouled out b4 overtime)
I saw this game and noticed Warriors did not sandwiched Yao with 2 defenders without the ball. The reason Dwight Howard was getting monster numbers in previous games was because he's single covered!!!!!!! If Yao gets single coverage and is guarded LEGALLY (without the grabbing, tangling) every game, LOOK OUT! I mean LOOOOOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!
That T against Howard was ridiculous. Even the Warriors announcers thought so. It would have been tainted if the Warriors had won. But they crumbled in OT without BD. The "Magic" carpet ride on the road continues. The Warriors D on Howard was very good. He made the same mistakes as Yao.
Don Nelson's tactic of using athelic smaller guys fronting and doubleing dominant big men is often pretty effective. but the key to defeat that is grabbing all the rebounds, as to defeat all fast-break teams. Even if big men can't score as much, they can out-rebound their smaller defender. Then Don Nelson's tactic will fail.
he was experiencing the same issue that yao ming was, with al harrington setting himself behind the 3-point-line, and dwight howard was giving him the distance to launch the shot. harrington only shot 2-9 from the 3-point-line, however, which was lucky for howard. i am not taking anything away from his game - the player knows how to time his blocks and control his body that he doesn't get fouls called on him. i witnessed at least two blocks where he didn't even jump off the ground to get the block - he just calmly put up his arms and BAM!
