http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ao.ooRVv59b6HfYgS_oHT9.8vLYF?slug=ap-magic-howard Hakeem is a class act. No doubt. Helping out the person who is the greatest threat to take the blocking record. I am interested to see how Dwight's game is gonna change as a result of training with The Master Shogun(Kobe's reference to the Dream). PEACE
I remember reading in Hakeem's book that he actually tutored Shaq when he first came in the league, too. Hakeem has never been a stingy guy when it comes to showing people his tricks. I think he appreciated the fact that he got to play against the MVP when he was a developing player, and he enjoyed being part of the lineage of dominant big men. Still does.
I wish Hakeem had worked with Yao more... actually has Hakeem ever really worked with Yao like he has with Howard?
I believe they had some initial workouts together but I think they came to the realization that Hakeem can't really help Yao much more because a big part of Hakeem's game were his fluid and quick movements due to his athletic ability and Yao just can't emulate those moves into his game.
Yao could have learned all kinds of things from Hakeem, especially in the attitude department. Fact is, Hakeem stops by Houston every summer, when Yao was typically in China.
We'll see how Dwight does next year. Somehow, I suspect there are things that Hakeem does that Howard simply does not have the physical gifts to do.
We need to get Jared Jeffries, Hill and Patterson some time with Hakeem. I can't believe a guy as tall as Jeffries still can't make a layup.
I think the Patman would greatly benefit from Hakeem's training. He has already shown some Hakeem like moves.
if it wasn't for him, there wouldn't be a Clutch without Clutch there wouldn't be Clutchfans without Dream or Clutch or Jeff.. http://web.archive.org/web/20020601073238/www.saveourrockets.com/main.cfm
All Yao Ming can learn from Hakeem is a pep talk, as others stated Hakeem's moves need fluid movements and lightning-quick-on-the-fly-decisions, something that Yao isn't really that good at. Dream has already given that "pep talk" many times, I can't see why he'd do that again as opposed to teaching someone like Dwight a more practical lesson. On DH, I really admire his passion to improve his game. DH doesn't really glare and snort and snarl on the court, however things like these and his overall body structure speak about his work ethic and desire to be better than what he is now. Along with Arenas and Kobe, DH is one of top favorite b-ball personalities, mainly because how dedicated they are at improving their game and their willingness to test out new things (hyperbolic chamber for Arenas) and get help from other people (working out with Dream). As for Dream, I really like how he doesn't care about younger people possibly becoming better than he is. Remember Kobe didn't want to give LBJ tips at all at how to work with Shaq, and Shaq himself treats DH as some kind of upstart. DH and Hakeem are a good pairing IMHO, DH is probably the only active center who has the physical abilities to keep up with Dream both on the offensive and defensive side of things. He's only 25, still 10 years of bball to go at least. Will be interesting to see his evolution on the court.
Well IMHO Hakeem has done so much for the team even if he doesn't care about the Rockets anymore (which is impossible) he'd still have done so much more than the most fervent and passionate rocket follower out there.
The only makes the glory of Clutch City more obvious. It gives me faith that not everyone discounted Clutch City. They know in their hearts how powerful it was and it learn from the one will make them that much more powerful and enlightened. Hakeem destroyed Orlando and yet he is willing to help an Orlando player improve. Think about that.
