So my friend got pulled over for speeding and swerving Wednesday morning. He refused the breathalyzer and blood test and was charged with suspicion of DWI. He has court next week.

Anyone know any good attorneys for DWI? How much can he expect to spend? What are the odds of a favorable verdict?

He totally deserved this though. I told him to take a cab to my place like 50 times. He was at a bar about 10 min away from my place and he was insanely hammered. I had been drinking so I couldn't pick him up.

Anyways....drinking and driving is lame....don't do it!

Lawyers get those things dismissed at about $6000. But maybe "suspicion" of DWI is lesser.

    He was insanely hammered?

If you were his friend, you wouldn't help him get out of the charges. Tell him to take his medicine like a big boy and to quite trying to drive while hammered.

$6000 to get a dismissal is quite a lot of medicine

Seriously...if that's the amount that will teach him to stay off the road after drinking and endangering innocent people, then let him take his medicine.

By refusing the test, he's already intent on getting free. It's a crapshoot on the judge your friend gets.

The possibility of going to jail is even better.

Totally. He screwed up. I would rather he go broke than spend time in jail though.

My firm handles them. If you want your buddy to come in for a consultation, I am sure I can set something up. Email me through the board.

And, this being the case, can you provide some experienced advice on this...

As a legal counsel, what is the best way to handle a situation when you've been pulled over in such a circumstance?

    (note: I don't drink. I'm just wondering)

It will be the best $5000 he's ever spent if that's all it costs. I remember it costing about 5 grand when I got mine in 1990. Once you figure in additional insurance costs and the possibility of missing out on potential job opportunities in the future, he'd have to be crazy not to hire an attorney.

He should film himself driving around town doing tequila shots. If he lives through it, he can show her the video impressing her with his ability to drink, drive, and film at the same time. I've also noticed that a lot of people are impressed by people who can roll joints while they're driving. Though, I've never seen it done myself. One of my friends told me they could do it.
