The last few times I've set the DVR to record shows on FoxHD (Family Guy and American Dad) they were broken into weird segments. Oddly, the segments were somewhat correlated to the commercials. Has anybody else noticed this?
I have two Scientific-Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVRs and this has happened on both of them.
    Thanks for your input.

That's weird that they are BOTH doing it...it sounds like maybe a firmware update gone wrong. Call the cable co.

I had three of these boxes drop dead on me, though. It's probably not impossible that they're both just dying. Did you have a power surge recently?

My AT&T U-verse box always seems to record the last 1 minute of the Rockets' games separately and it creates another segment, as well.

Why in the heck would you use your HD to record American Dad or Family guy? They're cartoons.

Were you recording them on Fox or FoxHD? I just recorded them on the HD channel because I was already on it. Obviously, I could have just done it on the regular Fox channel. A google came up with this: http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=4731 (from 2005).

I have the same problem with DVR'ing FoxHD. When i called Time Warner they told me that the problem wasn't on their end, but rather due to the signal FOXHD sends out. I don't know...

I wonder if Fox is trying to stop DVRing of their programs to make sure people see the commercials.

I had this problem a few months back. I had the cable card version (HDC 8300)and it did happen only on FOX. It was not fun watching House in a dozen parts. Anyway I exchanged it for a non cable card version (HD8300) and the problem has not happened since. Since you don't have the cable card version and it's happening on two machines, that's a head scratcher.
