I was curious how some of you handle buying DVD's now. I've bought a few hundred DVD's over the years and now that the format war appears to be over I'm still reluctant to buy Blu rays due to price. Some of them, at Best Buy type places, are in the $30 range which just seems way too much to me. I can get 3-4 regular DVD's for $30 usually, depending on how old they are so I was curious how everyone is handling that? I've seen on Amazon that the prices are a bit lower, between $15-$24 depending on how old they are but still so much more expensive than regular DVD's. Do you all think the Blu ray prices will be coming down soon now that HD is done?

Even though HD DVD is dead, I'd still buy them because of their clearane prices. There are still a bunch of HD DVD exclusive movies from the past that would look good in your collection. If you don't have an HD DVD player already, think about buying one for dirt cheap...they certainly are available. If you have an xbox 360, the HD DVD add-on is only $50, and you can still get that 5 free HD DVD rebate. Or you can just skip HD DVD all together.

As far as blu ray, I usually just wait for the buy one get one sales on Amazon or Best Buy. They come up every once in a while, and it's a good way of getting blu ray cheap until their prices drop, which WON'T be for a while. If you still don't like the buy one get one deal, then DVDs are still good quality, especially if you have an upconverting DVD player.

Blu ray's prices will continue to stay high for a while. Sony is known for capitalizing on a cornered market. No competition = either a poor product or jacked up prices or both.
