those of you who said that you have large dvd collections, many of which consist of "backed up" copies, what software do you use? i've tried a few different programs, but i get mixed results each time. any suggestions?
http://www.directron.com/tsh552b.html Cant go wrong with a Samsung for $62 I bought a Emprex (Lite-On) 16x DVD+/- R, 8x DVD+/- RW and 4x DVD+Dual Layer the day after Xmas at Fry's for $50 and works dandy for me.
They had a deal at pcconnection.com for a NEC burner, same stats with 50 free Fuju DVD-R for 30 bucks, but you have to deal with 3 rebates They might still have it. It's a great burner
I just got this NEC in the mail today. I did a decent amount of research on it before i purchased it and have "backed up" 4 DVD's at 16x without any trouble at all. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=27-152-035&DEPA=1 Just curious have any of you had any luck with the cheap DVD media they have in the Frys adds all the time? I bought quality ones for my first batch but it would be nice if i could save a little with the cheaper ones.
I just bought 50 sonic DVD-Rs from www.shop4tech.com They were some of the cheapest there I got 50 for 16 bucks, free ground shipping on everything The reviews seemed pretty good, but I have yet to try them out
Im staying away from the Great Qualitys, i had trouble with their CD-Rs and not even going to attempt thier DVD-Rs I use the Platinum (Bencole) blank DVD-/+Rs from Micro Center. They are cheap as hell, 25 pk for $6 and works just fine for me.
Sweet thanks for the tip. That exactly what i was looking for. Also is there really any difference between the + or - R formats other than compatability issues. I read somewhere that the +R's are better for movies but it wasnt from a reliable source.
I havent noticed a difference. But I use dvdrhelp.com and they said the following: DVD-R and DVD-RW DVD-R was the first DVD recording format released that was compatible with standalone DVD Players. DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 93% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs. DVD-RW is a rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 80% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs. DVD+R and DVD+RW DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 89% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs. DVD+RW is a rewritable format and is compatible with about 79% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
dvd-r's are pretty much the standard until Windows Longhorn comes out. They're more compatible for both dvd and PS2 backups.
