DVD Burner question

I have a DVD burner on my pc and when I tried to burn a dvd it gave me a copyright error. I was trying to create a backup of my dvd's, since the kids scratch them up. What are you supposed to do with one if you have one?

You can rip the movies off the DVD using DVD Decrypter, and then you can shrink them down to fit on a DVDR using DVD Shrink. doom9.net has guides forall of your DVD backup needs.

I just got one last week and have been using Dvdshrink.

I had no idea what i was doing and found this guide really usefull.

For those of you that know what you are doing, is there any advantage to ripping them with DVD Decrypter as apposed to just using DVD Shrink?
