What is the history between these two? I know Cato played for him for one year in Portland. If we get Dunleavy does that spell the end for Cato?

Uhh...why?

We aren't gonna waive him.

Yeah...a trade maybe.

It doesn't matter.

Next year...Yao should be playing more and more and Cato won't be playing much..unless Yao has a major injury.

He's just sitting there on the bench.

Makin 6.7 million a year.

SOMEBODY TELL KELVIN CATO...WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK

No, no, no....

The one main thing I was greatly disappointed with Rudy is that he didn't play Cato as PF and Yao as C at the same time.

It would've been a GREAT set. I don't want to see Cato leave, he's one of the top 2 or 3 rebounders on this team. He gets so much negative feedback from this BBS and fans, and he won't get praised for anything he does because he's "overpaid."

Well, he is still a very good player in my opinion; this team has arguably the best 2 centers in the league. Too bad Yao and Cato weren't used like Yao and Shaq during the ASG.

Depth wise; on any team.

I don't mean Yao number 1, Cato number 2.

I mean like the best 2 centers on any team (ie: New Jersey has JCollins and Mutumbo; I think the Rockets have the best center position, starter and backup).

Well I loved how he played this season. He was fun to watch. He hustled. It was great when some guy was out on the perimeter with Cato guarding him. And the guy doesn't really respect Cato and tries to shoot it...and Cato jumps up into the air and WHACKS IT 50 ROWS UP INTO THE SEATS. Beautiful. He's funny too.

And I suggested that Cato/Yao thing like.........a long time ago.

Rudy never tried it.

It would have worked well in many games this season......

Oh well!

He meant the best center tandem. Not the two best centers in the league.

Cato is awsome. He defends, he rebounds. He is what the Rockets need if Eddie dosent materilize into the PF that they expect. He might be overpaid but if he plays like he did last year. Than we should all be thrilled. Im curious to see what he can do with extended minutes. All he needed was somebody to light a fire under his butt to get him motivated. Drafting Yao certainly has done that. Cato is probaly our 2nd best player off the bench. Hes a keeper.

Believe it or not, I even contacted Gene and Jim about it.

They were saying the SAME THING.

Obviously Rudy was thinking of it.

They said that it would happen "later in the season."

Never happened.

It's hard to believe that they didn't play ONE SECOND on the court together. It just boggles the mind. I wouldn't doubt the first 5 minutes of next season them being on the court together.

Yeah, that!

Yes he did. He tried that set on numerous occasions. I thought it would be good also, but for some reason it never worked.

Can anyone explain to me what "the pass" from Moochie to Cuttino (that Mooch Man has as his signature) was??? I've tried to find a game recap that explains what it was but cannot find one. I'm very curious...........

He had a great season. Enough with the haters. You don't have to repeat the quote from the song everytime you post something about him.

Thats the one where Mooch did that fake behind the back pass and passed it to Cuttino.

Rudy put them in at the same time in one game, I think it was
the spurs game. Anyways, it didnt seem to be a good move, because Cato wasnt a offense threat, and Yao was double teammed fierecedly.

I remember that as well but I don't remember against who. It was in the second half of the season about a month or so after the all-star game.

Cato and Yao got stomped. It clearly didn't work. I think they had them in together for about 5 minutes before Rudy mercifully pulled one of them. It was ugly!

If they ever do it again, Yao has to be the PF since he can shoot...and it doen't make sense to have your 7'6" guy on the wing.

Double team off of Cato? Seems like throwing the ball up there for him to throw down a couple alley-oops would erase that strategy pretty quickly. Griffin or Taylor should be traded before next season (preferrably Taylor) and if we can't acquire a good, veteran starting POWER forward, Cato should get the job.

I'm not sure one 5 min stretch can be justification for saying this combo couldn't work. Shoot they we're playing against the MVP and a former MVP.

I can think of several areas where this combo could work on both ends of the court. New coach can look at rotation and maybe find some time for both on the court at the same time.
