    Express-News: Spurs
    Spurs note: Duncan held out

    San Antonio Express-News

Tim Duncan did not practice with the Spurs on Monday because of a bruised left knee.

Though Duncan is officially listed as questionable for tonight's game, the Spurs expect him to play as long as he doesn't have any problems with swelling.

Duncan banged his knee late in the third quarter of Saturday's win over Phoenix, but continued to play. When he experienced some swelling, the Spurs opted to hold him out of Monday's practice.

Duncan hyperextended the same knee against Utah on Dec. 11, but that injury is not related to his recent problem.

He was bothered by some slight tendinitis in his left knee early last year and underwent surgery to repair a cartilage tear at the end of the season.

Is this any good or will it be insignificant to tonight's game?

I'd prefer us to play against Duncan, that way, when we win, no one can say it's because he didn't play.

I see your point, but I would rather get a win against a Duncan-less Spurs than a loss against a Duncan (Dunkin')-full Spurs.

Not that I don't think we could beat the Spurs with Tim, but the Rockets should be looking for a win at this point, not a statement.

We better hope Duncan doesn't play because Steve isn't playing and Cat may not play either.
