Tough to pick the absolute dumbest, because there have been so many inane comments made about Yao, like these:

    * Doesn't have the upper body size to maintain position in the low post. [Yeah? Neither did Kareem. Lower body size counts more.]

    * His arms are not long enough. [Hey, they're long enough for him to shoot better than anyone else in the league.]

    * Won't be able to communicate with his teammates. [He's already easier to understand than Moses Malone every was.]

    * Doesn't have the aggressive attitude needed to compete in the NBA. [No, he's just not an arrogant jerk like so many young NBA players.]

And this one gets my vote for #1, if only because EVERY single sportscaster/sportswriter/sportsanchor feels compelled to parrot it:

    * He has to give half his salary to the Chinese government. [So what? All NBA players are in a tax bracket that makes them give nearly 40% of their salary to the government. Not to mention that his endorsements will soon make his salaray look like chump change.]

    I have something to add:

    * His legs look just like tree trunks.

    * He is going to hit the rookie wall.

    * Shaq will kill him.

    Yao Ming may have peaked?

    This one is classic IMHO.

I remember stating that "Yao will be getting abused by the likes of Tony Battie for the first few months". Damn, I'm glad I kicked my crack habit.:D

This gem tonight from the Spurs board...

wait a little bit more then temas will figure out how to slow him down.

Wich shouldnt take much, his speed is atrocious.

hes got good shooting touch, thats not bad,, his footwork is decent.

    His defense is so so.

hell be a bust because his play wont be indicitive of a number 1's should be.

    20 and 10 or 15 a night.

    Hell be a 12 and 8 a night guy.

The whole thread is pretty funny though:

    He's a Rik Smits type.

When did Smits ever put together a stretch like Ming has. When was he ever the shot blocker/rebounder that Ming is. The longer the season goes along, people will start to eat their words. PJ worked him out like a small forward and then qustioned his low post game. What a dumb a$$.

To be fair, most of them have come around, but the few skeptics still out there look like absolute idiots... it's awesome.

I love the "teams will adjust to Yao" argument, when Yao has torched every single team he's faced for a second time. Sort of seems like the other way around... :)

That's a compliment...his legs DO look like tree trunks and that's a good thing. Opponents have mentioned the same thing.

Well I was going to quote myself: "Ming will be a bust", but I prefer Bradley saying, (by the way, just before Yao had that huge game against the MAvs), "he' not 7'5, if he is then I'm 7'10. Snapper Jones, a few night later came back with "Well thats a lot of throwing down on a guy who is 7'10".

The commentator with Walton last nite in the Indiana game quoted Isiah Thomas as saying something like " Yao Ming will be a pretty good player once he figures out what is going on in the NBA."

The quote by Isiah was before the game.

I respected Thomas' game when he played, but he really is one self centered, arrogant Jerk.

This guy from another bbs, that made these comments, is the biggest moron on the net.
Most of these comments were right after the draft takes place.

Anyway I saved this so I could feed it to him with a crow sandwich but he's to moronic to even admit he was wrong..The last comment was a few days ago.

1-Yao Ming = Adryas Sabonis clone! big slow dufus

2-China is gonna force him to come back and play for them half of his carrer as well!!!

3-What a ****ing waste of a first overall pick

4-Ming is going ot be a joke guys!

5-the last player that was drafted high that was that tall was Gehorge Muresan and Shawn Bradley - just big lugs!

6-I dont give a damn - the dudes still gonna get owned!

7-Yao Ming is gonna get destroyed! PERIOD!

8-95% of basketball players outside of the NBA are chumps! Ming is gonna join that list - even if he does start to bring the ownage(but wont!) China's gonna reel his ass back to China to play for them!

9-Im gonna laugh my ass off when Ming gets circles runned around him when he plays a game! Hes gonna be like...
"OMG CHING CHOW BIDDY PING POW?!? "

11-I feel bad for the big lug a bit... he has no idea what hes getting into...

12-The Center position is meant for powerful, dominating players! Sabonis and his little fuff shot aint that! Hence - why the team he played for hasnt won a championship while he was starting! Ming... will be just like Sabonis... a loser

13-all of his games have been on and off hes doing good, lets see if he can to it for the rest of this season and seasons to come.

I like the one about he reminds me of Ralph Sampson who did a lot at first and then fell way off after teams saw him. Duh, career threatening injuries seem to have that effect on player performance.
