Whatever. He out coached McHale (not a hard thing to do). Let it go.

He actually ran plays, called good timeouts and is a decent X's and O's coach unlike McHale.

Don't like the dude but gotta give props when it's due. Great tactic worked and also that last play was really well drawn up.

Dantoni gets a bad rap for some reason as a bad coach. He's a good coach. He flopped in New York where he was a mismatch with the roster coming off their disastrous roster building years.

I'd take Pringles as my coach any day, unless my star player hated him.

Kobe loves him. Nash loves him.

What is the original poster trying to point up? It's like saying you hate chemical weapons........and then someone attacks you with it.

Is it that shocking or wrong if you retaliate with chemical weapons despite the face you say you're not a fan of it earlier?

    D'Antoni is a garbage coach.

He didn't just flop in NY because the roster wasn't built for him. He also flopped in LA because the roster wasn't built for his system. A coach should work around the roster, not the other way around. He had Nash and STAT in their prime, two top 10 players, who were ideal for his system and still didn't manage to win. I mean, what else is there to say. Dude does horrible as hell without a perfect roster and still can't win with one.

What do you mean he didn't manage to win?

He was there four full seasons, went to the WCF twice, the semi-finals once and then lost in the first round once.

Not winning a title doesn't make you a garbage coach. Especially when you have to go through dynasty level teams like San Antonio and the Lakers before you even get to PLAY for a title.

Let's also not forget that he was torpedoed one year where they looked like they could win it all.

If MDA is garbage, what does that make our McHale who is a far worse coach than Pringles?

You make it sound like he was playing in the Shaq and Kobe era. That was the Kobe and Smush era. The Lakers weren't a great team when he was the coach of the Suns. I'm pretty sure that was the same stretch where the Lakers didn't even make the playoffs one year. It's not going to get any easier than the era he was playing in.

Not getting to the finals even once, when you have your ideal, best case scenario roster and doing horrible whever you don't is just not the sign of a good coach to me. A 2 time MVPl one of the GOAT PGs plus STAT in his prime who was just a monster. Two of the best PnR players that he could have asked for. And the rest of the roster wasn't chopped liver either with Marion, etc.

Plus the guy is horrible at managing egos. Every coach knows that managing the egos of the franchise players takes precedence. D'Antoni pisses off Pau Gasol in the first week and benches him for Earl Clark.

d'antoni has only been successful for 1 team.

he only knows 1 way to play and is unwilling to adjust.

don't overrated him now because he outcoached someone even worse than him.

Don't agree. Both Nash and Amare are flawed players, none of them plays much defense. It is amazing that they can even get to the WCF.

As a coach, you have to deal with what you have. MDA did a good job in Phoenix.

D'Antoni had a full season with Dwight and barely made the playoffs. Dude was literally playing Kobe 48 minutes a game to make the playoffs.

If that's how our season ends, I'll be the first one to say we should find a new coach. Right now we're coming off a good season and it hasn't even been 6 games into the new one.

Plus, to relate it to D'Antonis tenure in Phoenix, if we don't get to the finals even once in the Harden/Howard era, I'll be extremely disappointed.

and whose fault they didn't play defense?

amare said d'antoni never taught him how to play defense.

    d'antoni doesn't prioritize defense.
