How does Funkytown by Lipps, Inc relate to the movie Dumb and Dumber? I always associate this song with this movie for some reason, and I'm not the only one. Does this song play in the movie, credits, or was it in a trailer?
The music switches about a minute in. no thats a different song by shaggy that plays in the beginning... i cant recall the name but its definitely not funkytown. funkytown isnt in the movie at all if i recall right. i guess its just that trailer.
i think they play the song when jim carrey and jeff daniels are in their tuxes and top hats and are getting ready for the charity event at the ski lodge.
Do you remember the Preview Channel? It was basically TV Guide Channel in the days before interactive menus and guides were standard issue with cable. IIRC, the only advertisements they had were for the PPV selections, and a Dumb and Dumber spot with that song was in HEAVY rotation. Having to hear it no doubt hundreds of times while you waited for the information to scroll may have been how it got pavlov'd into you.
