Funny stuff...shower scene...mmmmmmm. What's the name of the upcoming Jim Carrie movie where Morgan Freeman is God and gives Jim Carrey godly powers? THAT looks HILARIOUS!!!
Sure, big advances have been made in make up, but I think it might be a little difficult to make a 55 year old and a 41 year old look like high school students...Maybe they'll make suprise cameos as teachers or something....
Ever seen 90210? If it came down to having to make old guys look like young guys in order to make a funny movie, I would gladly take that over some doofuses that can't get a laugh to save their life.
I don't know, this is lacking something... HMMM what could it be..... Hmmm, oh yeah it's the STARS FROM THE FIRST MOVIE
Dude, don't even go there! You don't want to mess with me...I used to watch that show RELIGIOUSLY. Here are the ages of the 90210 cast when the show started Jason Priestly - 21 Luke Perry - 25 Shannon Doherty - 19 Jennie Garth - 19 Ian Ziering - 26 Gabrielle Carteries - 29 (she looked extremely young) Brian Austin Green - 17 Tori Spelling - 17 Douglas Emerson (that blonde geek that shot himself at his birtday party) - 16 The ONLY actor on that show that probably needed major make up to look like a high school student was Carteries. Now, when you turn 25, take a picture of yourself, then take one again at age 41 and see if you look even REMOTELY similar. Then, take another picture at age 55...
My point was not that they would/could look "REMOTELY similar." My point was that using different guys who appear to be really ****ty at comedy is not even remotely funny. The only semi-comical thing about that trailer was that the Jim Carrey look-alike seemed to at least be able to imitate some of his physical mannerisms. No one is looking for realism when they see a movie like Dumb and Dumber or Dumb and Dumber-er. They are looking for comedy. Having a 41 and 50 year old playing high school kids might even add to that comedy. Kind of accentuate the ridiculousness of the characters (who are already ridiculously stupid). All I know is that I definitely won't be going to see this movie, but I would probably go see a Dumb and Dumber prequel that involved Carrey and Daniels. Now, if Carrey and Daniels decided they didn't want to do it, and the producers saw a way to make a quick buck...well, THAT I can understand. I may not like it, but it makes sense to me.
Personally for me, many movies have been ruined because of the miscasting of characters. Casting 41 and 55 year old actors to play high school students wouldn't work. Since you can't make them look like high school students, you would have to think of some bizarre plot line to incorporate them into a high school, which would distract from whatever the movie is supposed to be about. My question is why did they make a prequel? The new Star Wars films are proof that prequels are very difficult to pull off. Don't even get me started on that crappy prequel to The Flinstones. My guess is that Carrey and Daniels turned them down, and instead of hiring two new adults, they decided to re-write the entire script and get some kids that will work cheaply.
I think this is probably the case, or what mrpaige suggested. I just really hate it when sequels (or prequels) are made with different actors for the same character. It very rarely works (off the top of my head, I can think of no movie that I enjoyed where it was done). For the sake of these guys starring in this new movie, I sure hope there are good jokes written for them outside of trying to impersonate Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.
wow that movie looks really bad. but those two guys really look like what jim carrey and jeff daniels might have looked liked if they were a younger harry and lloyd. kind of creepy.
That was pretty lame... I can't imagine it being as funny as the original, let alone with the stars... What a waste... Bruce Almighty looks good...
