LISBON (Reuters) - A runaway bride who allegedly left the groom standing at the altar while she fled with 150,000 euros ($138,000) of his family's money was arrested by Portuguese police, a newspaper reported Saturday.

Correia da Manha newspaper said the 32-year-old woman left the groom and 150 guests waiting at the Batalha monastery, one of Portugal's most revered national shrines, two weeks ago.

The woman allegedly disappeared with about 150,000 euros given her by the groom's family in Pombal, a city about 70 miles north of Lisbon, the newspaper said.

She also allegedly walked off with valuable items from the groom's house, Correio da Manha said.

The newspaper said police arrested her in Lisbon on charges of fraud and theft. A judge ordered her to report to police regularly pending investigations.

A police spokesman in Pombal was not immediately available for comment.

The groom's family spent about 20,000 euros on the wedding and invited 200 of the woman's family and friends to attend, the newspaper said. <b>Like her, they never showed up. </b>

OK...how does no one in the bride's guests list show up, and the groom's family ever think she wants to marry their son? Something is weird here, or she gave them a bunch of phoney mailing addresses for the invitations.

Who's dumber: the psycho b**** or the parents?

Or maybe it was planned by the son. Maybe the son planned the whole ruse and was planning to split the windfall with a fake bride.

Did they ever find that guy in Houston, (disappeared at the airport on their way to honeymoon) who left his wallet in the car and went back to get it?

They found him next to a hotel pretty close to the airport a day or two later. He suffered some sort of amnesia. That was about a week ago. I'm not sure how he has progressed.
