That was an amazing game! I thought Indiana won it towards the end, but Jason Williams hit that amazing three with the foul. He choked though, and Indiana won! Now Maryland does not have to face Duke when it will go to the final four!
Huh? It looked to me like he got clobbered. The Indiana coach was even shouting at the player, "What are you doing?!?!" If that's wasn't a foul then Duhon's clean steal with 11 seconds sure as well wasn't a foul. The refs did effect the outcome of this game at the end, but Duke shouldn't have even let it come to that. I guess that's retribution for Duke getting the benefit of the doubt by the refs in a lot of the past tournaments.
I didn't say the Duhon steal was a foul, it wasn't. The refereeing sucked all-around down the stretch - Duke lost because they played down to the level of a decidedly inferior team.
Man, I can't stand Duke, and even I'll admit that the kid got nailed on that three. Glad he didn't have the balls to hit his free throw though.
jason williams is turning into nick anderson, the sequel. apparently, he bricked something like 8 free throws in a game earlier this year against FSU. the notre dame crowd was razzing him pretty hard about it in the last game. when he stepped to the line tonight, I had a really strong feeling that he was going to miss. it brought back happy memories of 1995. who does that, anyway? who misses 4 free throws at the end of a game, any one of which can ice the win? THANK YOU, NICK!!
I make a motion that we change the language from "bricked" a free-throw to "nicked." Make it official. That was a sad situation.
Duke loses!? I guess Coach K didn't spread around enough of the legal tender! My bracket isn't screwed though, I had USC knocking off Duke in route to the Final Four anyway, and I had Kent State in the Elite Eight, and Missouri in the Sweet 16, so you know I'm still living large!
It'll be interesting to see how this affects Dunleavy-the 2 biggest pieces of the team, Williams and Boozer, are leaving. Duke will still be good, assuming Duhon, Ewing, and Jones stick around, but will they be able to compete for the title next year? Jeffries shows every game that he can do whatever it takes to win-pass, shoot, score, defend, handle the ball, rebound, or whatever is needed that particular day. I'd say he's solidified as a top 10 pick if he comes out.
I am with you RM, todays outcome really helps me. I had Duke not in the final 4 and the Okies to lose in the national championship. I am looking real solid now.
