Channel 13 news just showed some dude who climbed to a top of a power line pole. He's standing on the top of it. They said they would come back to it. I guess they don't want to show it live in case he fries.
Attention Clutch BBS. I am posting this from the top of a power line pole. I am protesting the fact that I don't have a catchy title under my user name....AND I'M NOT WEARING PANTS!
Why don't they show it on a delay? They can get ratings and if the guy gets fried they can quickly add those censor squares.
Stupid dude shut down the Westpark Tollway so he could se if he can fly like a birdie. That tollway has been nothing but trouble since it opened. Here's the story from KHOU's web site: The barefoot man climbed up a ladder on the side of the tower. HOUSTON -- Police have closed the westbound lanes of the Westpark Tollway between Gessner and Fondren because a man has climbed atop a giant CenterPoint transmission tower. The 180-foot tall tower holds 345,000 volts according to CenterPoint spokesperson Alicia Dixon. She says they have not shut down power yet but they haven't ruled out the possibility. It's believed the man has been up there since approximately 10 a.m. The westbound lanes of the tollway were shut down between Gessner and Fondren. The man is barefoot and at one point he took off his shirt but later put it back on. After about 90 minutes atop the tower, the man climbed down a few steps but then went back to the top. It's not clear why he climbed the tower. Dixon said the first steps are 12 feet off the ground so the man apparenlty shimmied up to the steps. I wish the guy would just jump and let the 6 HFD trucks + all the cops get back on the streets to deal with REAL problems. I see HFD has both of their heavy rescue trucks out watching this nut...whatever you do, don't get in a wreck and need the jaws of life...they're too busy watching some guy in serious need of mental help! They can't show it live because if he does jump and they show it, they're looking at a fine of $27,000+ from the FCC. Janet's boob killed live TV....
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/news/061404_local_tower.html ABC13 Eyewitness News (6/14/04 - HOUSTON) — A man standing on top of a 345,000-volt transmission tower in southwest Houston is causing quite a commotion. The man has been standing on top of the electrical tower at Westpark and Gessner since at least 10:30am. There is no indication why the man is there. A witness who apparently saw the man climb the pole was concerned and called police. CenterPoint Energy has cut the power to that particular tower. No customers in the area are affected. Transmission towers bring electricity from generating plants to homes and businesses. Houston police have closed down several lanes of the new Westpark Toll Road. Emergency crews are on hand and have been trying to communicate with the man. At one point, he began to climb down the tower. But after a few moments, the man apparently changed his mind and returned to the top. CenterPoint Energy has released a statement on the incident, detailing their safey policies regarding such towers. "CenterPoint Energy takes safety very seriously. ... The transmission towers are primarily located on property owned by CenterPoint Energy and clearly marked with "NO TRESPASSING" signs, which are visible to anyone. The vast majority of the towers are also equipped with danger signs. These signs are clearly visible and warn the public to stay off the towers and of the danger of hazardous voltage above." I say let the idiot fry or fly. If the douche bag is stupid enough to climb up there then I say let natural selection take over. Why not have a 10 second delay so that you can cut the feed if he does jump. Maybe they could make a reality show out of this. Have the judges from American Idol judge his dive. Randy: Whassup Dawg. Damn dawg, I just wasnt feelin it. Simon: That was absolutely dreadful. Paula: I think you gave a good effort but in the end you just hit the ground. No emotion.
I wish you would step off from that ledge my friend You could cut ties, with all the lies that you've been living in Aaand, if you do not want to see me again, I will understaaaand....
